BREEZE RESIDENCE APARTMENTS REVIEW||(aka Crow Residence)||||If you are looking for a place where a family of resident crows LOUDLY screech and squawk annoyingly from before sunrise to after sundown; if you are looking for a place next to a primary school where children screech and scream throughout some school days and some evenings until 21:00, if you are looking for a “resort” where you must walk 300 meters through garbage strewn streets and alleys, including 83 stairway steps down to access the beach; if you enjoy sleeping on a concrete “soft” mattress; if some days you enjoy the sound of the neighbors’ power saws cutting stone for hours; if you love to languish in boxy, hardwood, spartan-like, uncomfortable furniture; if you are happy preparing your meals in a poorly equipped kitchen, if you are easily fooled by well staged website photographs; if your idea of a “fitness center” is a punching bag, an ancient bicycle and two home-fashioned, concrete in plastic-bottle barbells; if you don’t mind struggling with EVERY poorly fitted door in the suite that needs to be wedged, jimmied, tugged, or slammed........ then the Breeze (Crow) Residence is the ideal place for you to spend your hard earned relaxation time and money. The name “Breeze” may be misleading; no actual “breeze” seemed to reach our suite. If you are looking for a lower priced place to stay on Zanzibar, this may be the place for you. Do not set your expectations high, you will be disappointed.||There are two restaurants in the immediate area (one is closed on Mondays). A few items on the positive side; the pool and courtyard are nice areas, the air conditioner worked in the bedroom (thank goodness) and the Tanzanian staff are all courteous...
Read moreWe stayed for two weeks and had an apartment on the first floor. Breeze is a small scale and well-maintained compound with lots of privacy. The apt is cleaned daily and you get fresh linnen and towels every third day. There is a basic kitchen with refrigerator. The bedroom has an airconditioner. ||||The staff is very friendly and will look after anything you need during your stay. We booked two day tours with them and rented a car for 4 days. ||||Breeze has a private beach with security which is about a 3-5 minutes walk.||||A small shop is open every day and sells basic amenities and imported products.||The nearest ATM is at 25 minutes by foot. Or 5 minutes by car.||||Wifi is reasonable. Speed is good enough for basic needs. Coverage could be better. Outside is fine, but inside it becomes unstable. Cellular coverage is excellent (Vodacom/Zantel) ||||We had a wonderful time and hope we can come...
Read moreI love Breeze apartments. Inside it's a little oasis, with lush gardens that are really well maintained. The pool is immaculately clean, as are the rooms. The breakfast each day is generous and we could rarely finish it all. The resort itself is really safe and secure, walled all the way around with guards always available. The beach is a short walk and is a stunning stretch of super fine white powdery sand. It truly takes your breath away. I loved the added benefit of having my own kitchen here and enough privacy to relax on my balcony all evening if I didn't want to go out. The owners Alex and Nicola are really friendly and accommodating so while you are adjusting to the area they're always willing to help. The staff are warm and friendly which make a big difference too. Being here with my ten year old I couldn't have felt more relaxed and peaceful. I wouldn't stay anywhere else...
