We stayed at this property in January 2025. Having booked flights, hotels and some excursions by credit card prior to departure, it was only with regard to Pili Pili Orient Beach that we encountered alleged problems for which we accepted the alternative solution of immediate and advance payment of the full amount due. When we arrived at Pili Pili, unlike the other establishments we stayed at in Zanzibar, only here was the balance of the tourist tax required at check-in. The tourist tax, unlike in the other structures, was $5 per day per person; we trust that this sum can contribute in some way to the improvement of the access road to the hotel structure. It is a road that could only be used by motocross enthusiasts, but it is a strain (not on the tourists sitting comfortably in the taxi), but on the taxi drivers' vehicles. It should be noted that our accommodation was adjacent to another villa, similar to ours, but still under construction: for the sake of the hotel's image and decorum, if not out of respect for tourists and the island of Zanzibar (which does not deserve it), the villa allocated to us could have been left empty precisely because of its proximity to this open-air construction site. Not only that, but the same structure that houses the restaurant, breakfast and reception has a sad and lack of quality roof, whereas all over the island only seemingly more modest structures have beautiful and fascinating makuti roofs. After our first night at Pili Pili, the next morning we spent over an hour in the breakfast area, planning the day's excursions and trusting that the hotel staff would be quietly cleaning our rooms in the meantime. This did not happen, but as soon as we got back to our rooms the manager joined us to fill in a satisfaction questionnaire and at the same time the staff arrived to clean the rooms. We then went to the swimming pool, which is for the exclusive use of our apartment, but here too a maintenance worker first arrived and slipped through a trapdoor next to the pool, and then other staff intervened to fill the pool itself. In order to avoid spending our holiday essentially managing the work in progress in the apartment where we were staying, we enthusiastically embraced the idea of spending all our days on excursions outside the hotel. When we checked out, the manager informed us of an alleged outstanding balance for a taxi service, but we immediately clarified that the service had been arranged directly with the taxi company and had been paid to the taxi driver. As we collected our keys and left, the matter seemed to be resolved, but in the afternoon at 5.33pm local time we received a WhatsApp message from the property claiming that we still owed $135 for the taxi service we had used. . Having read this absurd WhatsApp communication late in the evening, we were forced to take the time to provide a timely and detailed response, and received a laconic and concise reply shortly afterwards: ""Thank You. Sorry for disturbance”.

The beach resort is a beautiful property. There are limited rooms but each room has a private pool. Having said that the cleanliness of the place does require some work. Our AC was continuously leaking and it flooded the entire floor by the morning. Our pool lights were not working in the night. The washroom toilet seat was smaller than the commode which I found very weird. The property is great but the construction is sub par and maintenance is poor. The food at the restaurant was great when the main chef was there. The staff was great and friendly and were kind enough to serve us cocktails at our private pool. Special requests for food and lodging were aptly met. The beach in front of the property is great. There were hardly anyone there heckling and felt very quiet and serene. In a nutshell if you aren't too picky about things this resort will work wonders for you.

Review of Our Stay at Orient Beach Hotel, Zanzibar We had an unforgettable 7-day family stay at Orient Beach Hotel in Zanzibar. From the warm Tanzanian hospitality to the outstanding service, everything was perfect. The staff went above and beyond to meet all our needs, always cheerful, accommodating, and willing to help. The food was exceptional, and their flexibility with our late check-out was greatly appreciated. The uplifting atmosphere, with staff singing and dancing while working, added a special charm to our experience. The hotel’s location was ideal for excursions, creating lifelong memories for our boys, especially swimming with dolphins. It was a truly remarkable stay, and we’re already looking forward to returning!

Location, view, beach and apartments 10/10. Amazing private swimming pools maintained every day. Room service twice a day (except of cleaning, additionally they spray anti mosquito solution so you shouldn't be afraid of any in your space). All apartments equipped with mosquito meshes in all the windows/doors, working air conditioners and 2 bathrooms. The hotel is very boutique and in the calm area, so we could really enjoy the holidays in the privacy and we rested like never before ;) The hotel staff is available for its guests for all their needs. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and the restaurant workers were nice. We would like to highly appreciate the support of the manager Mohamet - this man knows what's really important in the running the hotel and a customer service. He takes care of customers with all their desires, all the hotels should have such a nice and helpful menager like Mohamet. Fingers crossed for future successes and we hope to meet again! In our point of view the price to quality ratio is more than great for what we received during this amazing 15 days in Pili Pili Orient Beach. If you seek for relaxing time, in huge apartment with private pool, right on the flour-like sand beach, with palms, drinks and meals to your private terrace (if you have such a wish) - this place is for you. And also if you don't what to bother with organizing taxi or trip - they will support you...
