If it weren't for two issues, we would have enjoyed our stay much more.
Low shower water pressure became an annoying recurrence during our trip from Bangkok to Chiang Rai. Frustratingly this happened to us at Bed Changkian too.
We experienced low water pressure at 5 out of 7 properties during our trip. I wondered if this was a maintenance problem, to conserve water, or to improve the bottom line. Whatever the reason, I didn't enjoy it and I got grumpy afterwards. This grumpy guest isn't likely to give good reviews.
The other thing that I value above all else in a hotel is a good rest.
On that count, we had an average night at Bed Changkian, especially my wife who is a light sleeper. When flight operations were going on, she could hear airplanes overhead. There were also noises from the neighboring property, and in our case from the rooms next to us. Although these noises aren't constant, and we can't really blame the hotel for flights and neighbors, nevertheless it disrupted her sleep rhythm.
Without these two issues, this would have been a nice place to stay. The young staffers were enthusiastic, friendly and could converse well in English. There's parking lot for our hired car (non sheltered). Though breakfast was simple, we appreciated the convenience and the quality. Perhaps next time we'll try BED at...
Read moreBED Changkian is definitely a gem in Chiang Mai! It’s been a while since I’ve been so pleased with a hotel, and BED did not disappoint! I love how it wasn’t on the main road, so all the noises that we did hear were from birds and frogs. It sounded like we were in the jungle when we would keep our windows open. With the great location we were able to walk to the nearby market to shop and sightsee. Having been with a few friends, I was excited to know all three of us get our own beds! I’ve never seen that before! We’re usually alternating who has to sleep with the snorer! I respect that they put out signs for quiet hours. It’s comforting knowing we won’t get woken up by loud neighbors during the night and early mornings. The BED employees don’t treat you like a customer, they instantly give off “family” vibes and genuinely want to know how you’re doing and what you’re up to. Frame made it very clear she would do anything to make our stay more pleasant. She even told us BED has other locations so we now have more options to stay when we return! Thanks so...
Read moreThe staff; Pai, Aong, Nam, Pleng, James, Kate, and many others whose names I couldn’t catch, each carried a smile that could brighten even the tiredest traveler’s heart. Their warmth, kindness, and genuine care made every moment feel special.
In a world that moves so fast, this little hotel reminded me to slow down and feel human connection again. Every “sawasdee khrap and kob Khun khrap” every gentle smile, every small act of thoughtfulness spoke louder than words.
The room was spotless and peaceful, a true home away from home. The aircon cooled perfectly, the water pressure strong, the heater steady, everything worked beautifully, a reflection of how much care they put into every detail.
To the entire BED Changkian family, Thank you for your golden sincerity, your laughter, and your hearts of gold. You’ve shown me why Thailand will always be known as the Land of Smiles.
