I chose to stay at this hotel due to its excellent reviews. I was a party of three, for one-night stay. Upon arrival, the reception was welcoming. However, when I entered my room late at night, I found that I had less than half a roll of toilet paper with no backup supply. The extra bed I paid for was extremely uncomfortable, making it impossible for any of us to sleep on it. In the morning, we went to breakfast, which we had pre-paid for. The breakfast is ending at 10 a.m., we got there about 9:45 a.m. After getting our food and sitting down, a lady staff member approached us and pointed at her wristwatch. When I inquired about her actions, she informed me that breakfast would end at 10 a.m. and she would be clearing all the food away. I asked her what time it was, and she replied that it was 9:50. At that point, we had already collected all the food we intended to eat, so we had no problem if she wants to clean up. The staff member continued to walk around, frequently glancing in our direction. At 10 a.m., she bought a group of workers who began making loud noises. We finished eating by 10:05. This hotel is supposed to be a high-end hotel, however the worker is not adequately trained to treat their guests well. While the hotel itself is beautiful, we will not be staying here again and would not...
Read moreChainarai Riverside Recreation Centre is an underrated 5 Star hotel which will blow your mind! The hotel is huge with vast grounds, multiple parking lots, and lush tropical greenery. Located beside the Kok River, it is a grand architectural marvel of well appointed rooms, suitable for solo travelers, couples and families. The two bedroom suite has a King bed with bathtub, twin beds with rain shower, a living room, 3 TVs, 3 bathrooms, ceiling high wardrobes, 3 huge balconies with full riverside views and amazingly firm comfortable beds. The building materials and fittings of the newly renovated hotel are of a quality that surpasses even 5 star hotels. The buffet breakfast is included in the room rates and has a generous menu to get your day started. The salad bar had the freshest vegetables I have ever eaten in any hotel....or restaurant. This hotel screams CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN...you can practically walk barefooted everywhere! For USD89/3,000 THB a night for the suite with breakfast (USD33/1,130 THB for Deluxe King), I'm wondering if they priced the room rates wrong, as other 5 star hotels would cost 2-3 times more...and their room size would not even be as big (112 sq m for the Suite, 39 sq m for King). For a peaceful and relaxing stay in Chiang Rai, Chainarai Riverside is the ultimate...
Read moreOn our drive to Chiang Rai, we stayed two nights in this hotel. The hotel is brand-new and contemporary, and it features a lovely pool. Even though the rooms are comfortable, overall I felt a little let down after seeing the photographs and reading the reviews.
The reception employees did not appear to be overly happy and gave off the sense that they did not enjoy their work. We reserved two rooms, but they stated they couldn't be combined even though we booked them one month in ahead. They were set up in different buildings. Which was a little disappointing.
A water bottle from the prior guest was still in the room when we arrived, which speaks to the hotel's degree of cleanliness.
Due to the hotel's lack of amenities outside of the swimming pool and fitness. it was completely empty at night. The breakfast is served in a sort of large conference room and is not really up to the quality of a hotel of this stature. There isn't really a genuine restaurant/bar located there.
The hotel is a pleasant spot to spend the night overall, with cozy modern rooms and a fantastic pool. However, don't count on much activity or atmosphere...
