At first, extremely excited to finally get there to end our 1 month and half trip in Asia. All we needed was here, comfort, peace, sun and sea. But if you are a 25yo couple, make sure to book somewhere else. I don’t know what is wrong with being young in here, maybe youth means trouble in the staff’s mind, but we were not treated the same way than others. I’ll explain shortly: We arrived at noon for check-in, no « hello » nor « welcome », all we could get was « check in ? 2 nights ? You see the room over there at the top right of the building ? Go there ». And we did! Once in the room, wondering what to do now, since NOBODY came to explain how this place works (restaurant opening time, massage, breakfast time, check-out time, room cleaning). Not even WIFI! Thanks to my super smart brain I figured it out myself. You! who’s reading this feedback, the password is « 12345678 ». We were hungry so we had lunch and it was really good actually, but guess what ? We were seating patiently for 25 minutes and no one came to take our order so I walked to the counter thinking maybe one has to order that way. Then I went back to my table and guess what ? 2 families took a seat next to us, someone gently came to take orders with a big smile on her face. Ah.. smiles.. I miss those! All over Thailand we had the chance to meet the very famous “Thai smile”. Forget about it here, if you don’t have children or if you’re 25 like us, the only thing you’ll have is a “what do you want again” face. We truly felt like we did not belong here, for absolutely no reason. We asked for 2 drinks on our next day arrival (LOL there are pictures of various juices over the counter) so my wife showed one telling she wanted it, the staff looked pissed off, spoke in Thai and then went back to the kitchen with no explanations! That is just a short overview of how we were treated along, and maybe they just didn’t like the shape of us (it happens, I can relate) but it should not happen to customers who pay for a service. You should take care of everyone on a same level. It hurts me so bad when I read all the great feedbacks of this place, because it confirms everything. ALSO, I almost forgot, since they did not talk to us AT ALL, we realized on our own (and too late) that dogs eat and steal your stuff hanging outside during the night. I found my towel totally ripped off and covered in dirt 15 meters away from my bedroom. Anyhow, the view is perfect, the sunset is astonishing and the beach is empty. Still, I will never come back here. (PS: DO NOT ASK FOR A DRINK WITHOUT PLASTIC STRAW! That might have been the moment we became “WANTED” at Pranee Beach Bungalows lol). By the way, who is Pranee? I wish she could have...
Read moreWe stayed for 3 nights as part of our trip and the location is stunning. Endless sandy beaches with a scattering of tourists . This island was wiped out in the tsunami 2004. Because of this it feels very underdeveloped and visiting is a way of helping rebuild. Pranee says - You should come ! Don’t be scared there are lots of safety plans . ||Although we booked 8 months before traveling, we were disappointed that there were no beach front bungalows available for our stay. They looked superb. We had a side sea view - we could see the sea but it was not quite the same. The small scale simple accommodation suited us fine. After all , you don’t get this simple beauty and have large hotel! ||All communication with Monica was excellent. Although Pranee insisted next time we should book direct for better rates. (See card photo)||We travelled by taxi from Phuket - it took 1 1/2 hours. 1600 baht. Then travelled across the river/sea on a tail boat from Nam Khem (quay) great fun - 20 baht and then taxi (500 m up hill) . Watch out for the 2 toothed motorcycle side car taxi driver who tried to charge us 200 baht ! ||We ate next door at Pranees . The food was lovely and views of the sun set amazing. Very chilled. A picture of her daughter, who was lost in tsunami hangs on a wall next to the kitchen. We loved the fried bananas and Penang curry. ||We also drunk at Peck s bar next door (her son ) and my husband had a couple of Thai massages as he had a bad back. ||Just wonderful. Wish I...
Read moreVery cosy and quiet. Rooms are spacious and fresh, all including a small fridge, water boiler, tv, airconditioner and storage for clothes. Really spacious porches with a table and chairs where you can easily sit even during rain. Ocean (and sunset) wiev from all the rooms (not including the 2 rooms separate from the main area). The rooms are practically on the beach, which has sunbeds, parasoles and a shower. Free Wi-Fi that works in the rooms, restaurant and on the beach. The restaurant is simple, built by bamboo and palm leaves but the menu is versatile with something for all tastes (including childrens). The food is amazing and costs are cheap to normal. During high season there is also a bar with a good variety of drinks. Service is great, they help you with just about anything and have good contacts for other services. There is a small clinic for easier conditions close by and in the harbour (15 min walk) there are a few more restaurants, a few shops, laundry service (with delivery to the hotel) and a tour center with a variety of activities provided. You han hire motorbikes or family tuctucs in the harbour or at the hotel to explore the Island or go over to the main land, Khao Lak is not very far. If driving is not your thing taxi...
