DIRTY, UNDRIENDLY STAFF, NOT CHILD FRIENDLY. I never wrote a negative review and I tried to make the most of my stay at Klong Jark Bungalow even if it was not a pleasant stay but as the manager even insulted my family at checkout I thought it would be good to share my experience as it may be useful to others. In Thailand we really had a great experience everywhere (and in similar backpapers' hotels) except in Klong Jark Bungalows. In sum: The room was clean but rundown. The wardrobe was mouldy and smelly so we couldn’t use it. I guess they only maintain the bungalows and nearby garden in the first raw. Bungalows behind are not well taken care of and there is rubble in the garden. The water of the toilet sink was literally brown. Towels were dirty (as well as bedsheets). Their food is pricey, if you travel around Ko Lanta you will notice that, and NOT good quality (we actually spent the same as in a high class restaurant in Phi Phi island which is known to be expensive and we actually ate far better). Moreover, they served a very chilly dish for our child (which we didn’t order). My child got sick after the first bites, I asked staff to assist me and they just stared at me and walked away. I was really shocked. We even had to pay for that dish. What shocked me most was their HOSTILITY towards us. I never experienced that. They have toys in the restaurant but they were not happy for my children to play with them. Staff were constantly staring at us and commenting in Thai. They even removed one toy from the hands of my child and they hide them on our last day (to be noted my kids were playing normally, they didn’t break anything). To be noted: Before booking I asked them if it was possible to add an additional bed in the room and they confirmed (twice) they would have done it (it was the condition for us to book and they knew that). Unfortunately at arrival they simply gave (stained) bedsheet and blanket to put on the floor (without mattress). Many more things to say….Sue, the manager, expects guests to eat at their restaurants and use her travel agency (she won’t be happy if you don’t), she gets commission for that and her travel agency it’s also more pricey. If you check prices around you will notice that. She initially looks friendly but it’s not genuine, there is a weird toxic environment there. Good luck if...
Read moreI ate here (average food) considered staying here but the management vibe put me off. It's one of those few places that won't let you walk through to go to the beach unless you're a customer. Instead you have to turn around, walk/drive back to the main road and then take one of the other roads back to the beach. Why? For me that was enough to feel like there's a bad vibe here. Bring back the kindness.
(Instead I stayed nearby).
The main reason I disliked this place was the nightly fire show. Why? This is such a small quiet beach. But this one operator runs the same (bad) for show every night, with the same very loud, very disorganised bad music. Having a quiet dinner nearby? No you're not. Enjoying the peaceful sound of the waves? No you're not. Having a relaxing massage? No, you're having a pumping cheesy techno music massage.
In response, every night all the other bars (there's only 4 or 5) turn up their music to drown it out. And so for one hour every night this super sleepy beach becomes a loud cacophony of pumping, thumping, mismatched musical hell. And then thankfully it ends.
There's really no need for a fire show on this beach. If ppl want entertainment they will go to long beach. Or better yet, Phi Phi. Klong Jark is a quiet place to relax in the quiet of the waves and the stars. Please cancel this deafening rubbish and allow guests to enjoy the slow pace they come to klong...
Read moreAVOID !! On a daily basis, I try to avoid giving reviews on google maps, but after reading a bunch of lies and hypocrisy that was posted in response to my travel companion's comment, I decided to add a few words from myself. Let's start with the fact that everything my predecessor wrote is absolutely true. We were deceived by Su, who first assured us of extending our stay and after 2 days informed us that we had to move out because someone paid more than us. We were treated as walking wallets. The standard of the rooms is really very poor, but everything is compensated by the proximity of the beach. Slandering and accusing us of gangster behavior shows how bad people you are. If you call your guests gangsters in public, it means that you absolutely should not run such a business. You force children to work on a dangerous fire show, you send our pictures from cameras to other people without our consent - how could we feel safe and comfy in your place? You refer to Thai values without representing them at all. Your values are greed, lies and hypocrisy. I spent a lot of time in Thailand, I have some Thai friends and the values they represent are definitely different (real Thai) than criminal yours. This is absolutelly toxic and weird place. There are many other accommodation options nearby where the standard is higher and the customer service is much better (although it is not...
