Matcha Lanta Resort — Hotel in Ko Lanta Yai

Matcha Lanta has just opened some months ago. Rooms are modernized and have been cleaned daily, 7-11 is very close but you will have no direct access to the beach or any other chance to sunbath at the resorts. There is only chairs and no hammock or similar at your bungalow

BE AWARE THAT THERE IS A MOSQUE NEXT TO THE RESORT AND YOU WILL HEAR THEM PRAYING VIA MICROPHONE AND SPEAKERS DURING SUNRISE AND SUNSET.

The owner is non Thai and purely focused on making money. It was just a "Hi, can I have your passport?" ... "Thanks, you have room number 1, just go this way and you find your bungalow" I really missed the Thai friendliness, the conversations with someone that lived on the island and could give you hints where the good spots are. He also closes business at 6pm. So no chance to meet him afterwards, ask something, etc.

If you only look for a room and don't mind the mosque and the fact that you are st the end of the beach where you have not much restaurants around you - go for it. If you like not waking up at 5:30, have direct access to the beach and someone that helps you organizing trips move to next destination- book somewhere else. You get...

HOLIDAY ON KOI LANTA ISLAND, THAILAND

A short but wonderful holiday in a place we had never been before. We were at MATCHA RESORT on the beautiful island of Koi Lanta, 19 beautifully furnished bungalows, with all amenities, around a beautifully landscaped garden. Five brand new motor bikes are available for rent at the resort. From the hotel you can walk to a beautiful beach in 30 meters, with nice restaurants and massage options. From the Matcha resort you can make beautiful trips to long beach, Bamboe beach and old town. The owner and staff are there for you all day and do everything they can to make you feel at home. Des vacances courtes mais merveilleuses dans un endroit que nous n'avions jamais visité auparavant. Nous étions au MATCHA RESORT sur la magnifique île de Koi Lanta. Ce complexe hôtelier propose 19 bungalows joliment meublés et tout confort, entourés d'un magnifique jardin paysager. Cinq motos neuves sont disponibles à la location. Depuis l'hôtel, vous rejoindrez à pied une magnifique plage à 30 mètres, avec de bons restaurants et des massages. Depuis le Matcha Resort, vous pourrez faire de belles excursions vers Long Beach, Bamboe Beach et la vieille ville. Le propriétaire et le personnel sont à votre disposition toute la journée et font tout leur possible pour que vous vous sentiez comme chez vous. Een korte, maar heerlijke vakantie op een plek waar wij nog nooit waren geweest. Wij waren bij MATCHA RESORT op het prachtige eiland Koi Lanta, 19 prachtig ingerichte bungalows, met alle gemakken voorzien, rondom een prachtig aangelegde tuin. Bij het resort zijn vijf gloednieuwe motor bikes te huur. Vanuit het hotel loop je in 30 meter naar een prachtig strand, met leuke restaurants en mogelijkheden voor massages. Vanuit het Matcha resort kan men hele mooie ritjes maken naar longbeach, Bamboe beach en old town. De eigenaar en de staf staan de hele dag voor je klaar en doen er alles aan om je thuis te voelen. Service by the hotel manager (Linda) was great, staffs were nice, room was alright, but the management is dishonest.

We originally booked El Pillax (their sister resort two hundred meters away), I was told by the management (via online messenger) that El Pillar is full during our booking period and they offered El Matcha instead. Eventually we found out the room rate was cheaper priced at El Matcha, the management had remained silent on this (see screen shot), and we ended up paying thousands of baht more for the 6 nights we stayed there. We initially booked for 4 nights only then extended with 2 more totalling 6, and even at this point of extension we were not informed on the pricing difference and ended up getting charged the El Pillar rate for the cheaper priced El Matcha.
