That’s the second time I spend a few weeks at Sonya. When I arrived I got a nice hug from Namfon. Actually her whole family was very nice again. And I felt like coming home immediately. A fews days I wanted to spent on Koh Mook and she organized that to, as well as my trip back to Phuket. On Klong Kong Beach there are several possibilities to have breakfast. I tried a lot of them. But the one at Sonya Guesthouse is definitely the best. You should also try the thai omlett with tuna, chili and garlic. I recommend to order a cold thai tea with this meal Twice a year I spent a few weeks in Thailand and its restaurants and I have to say,also the other thai meals are very delicious here but you have to order it spicy, if you want it spicy. Apart from this the bungalow was always clean and you could smell that the hammock just came out of the washing machine. At the beach you will find some nice bars too. Read moreSonya has been here long before the powers-that-be ruined the charm of Khlong Khong when they tore up the road and laid down a 4-lane superhighway with enough lights to make the streets seem like the inside of a bleary-eyed 3 AM trip to the 7-Eleven. The food has always been very good here (I'm sorry we wolfed down the spring rolls before a photo could be taken) but today's meal was more stunning than spotting a topless supermodel sunbathing on a quiet sunny beach and I can't wait until I'm hungry again.
If we had eaten here last night maybe my girlfriend wouldn't have gone hungry in protest of the sub-par pad thai she had at another local establishment on the beach (that fully redeems itself by serving the best beers on the island) and maybe my friend Alex wouldn't have indulged in as many of those beers as he did and spent the night in the local hospital after ramming his motorbike into a ditch in the road on the way home....
