Firstly I would like to acknowledge that this place is a lovely location - however there is very little in the vicinity.. a couple of days is sufficient to stay here unless you have a car and use it as a base only. ||We had travelled around Southern Thailand and this was a lovely villa for a multi generational family but there were a few things to note. ||Outside areas|The pool is small, and unless you are in the villa in the middle you don't really get huge amounts of sun. There are only 2 sunbeds (for 5 people it would not have been enough, but luckily for us the sun was not out so we made do with the doors open and the sofas inside) .. we didnt watch TV so not sure if this worked. The kitchen was well equipped, and there was a fridge full of stuff you could buy, like water, beer, soft drinks. Noodles and other snacks were also available to buy. But we did our research and knew there was nothing around so shopped before we arrived. ||The terrace is small, and the seating area could do with some sprucing up, the step was a little loose.. the huge pond in the middle of the villas was filled with fish and frogs which were fun to feed. ||Beach was ok to walk along but you cant use it as such. But it is picturesque. ||The staff were incredibly helpful, carrying our cases down the steep entrance hill when our taxi refused to reverse down! The ladies work super hard bringing your breakfast and cleaning. ||Rooms |Bedroom 1 is on ground floor and well sized, the bed however, is really low down lol... which was interesting getting in and out... the bathroom was lovely very natural in design and the toiletries were gorgeous! Very clean and tidy. ||Bedroom 2 also ground floor - equally large size but bathroom was outside of the room and doors were a little creaky so being quiet was impossible ha ha. ||Bedroom 3 was upstairs... in the loft space, which was small, and the stairs were not for the faint hearted.. my sister only tackled them once a day literally ||Breakfast was a buffet style delivered to your patio with pastries and fruit platters, tea and coffee, juice, yoghurts, toast and you can order eggs and other small options on a menu. If you want more of anything you just have to ask.||So as I mentioned it is fairly isolated, and most places only take cash... so we had to Uber to the nearest 7/11 to get some more as most places were taking card we found... ||The view point at Khaothong Hill is literally opposite - there is a car park at the bottom where you can buy tickets to get taken up in a golf buggy or car, then you get this redeemed off your bill in the restaurant at the top - great for the views of the sunset... however, it was cloudy the two days we were there so we didn't do this. We found the restaurant opposite the hotel Khaothong Terrace was fantastic! Really reasonably priced, great portions - the best Massamam curry and banana fritters we had! We went both nights of our stay and loved it both times! ||All in all, I would say if you are travelling and need to see somewhere different off the beaten track but with easy access to Krabi/ Ao Nang then this is great - but take snacks, and...
Read moreWe spent 5 nights here and frankly couldn’t have been more pleased! Our villa was beautiful, the food was better than many restaurants and the staff/management went above and beyond! |Seriously, the villa (Chaba Rose) was perfect, the WiFi and AC worked exceptionally well! The pool was the perfect size for two (and 1 tacky pool float). The kitchen with full sized fridge/cookware/glassware/etc was perfect! The bed was comfortable. The TV/cable was a great unexpected surprise. One evening (after too much sun) I watched a movie in English and the Cold War Kids concert on the TV. The views of the Sea were to-die-for and the grounds were really beautiful. One day we saw a monkey climb the palms to get coconuts and the next we saw a giant water monitor emerge from the pound. As an animal lover, I was pleased to find a friendly cat on the property. Don’t be worried, she didn’t stick around if you didn’t want her to... I called her nala and she was incredibly sweet! |The food/room service was better than what we had at the Westin! Ok, to be 100% we did have pretty phenomenal breakfast with bottomless Prosecco at the Westin NOT at Tha Lane Bay -but the prepared meals were more authentic/flavorful at Tha Lane Bay than at the Westin or it’s various restaurants. The breakfasts are great at Tha Lane -basically just without the mimosas or lattes! We enjoyed the chicken satay, duck in red curry, panag curry, etc. |Lastly, the staff was AMAZING! They were friendly and helpful and even concerned one night when we were home but didn’t eat dinner... we had a late lunch and then my husband fell asleep very early so I just ate some snacks and watched TV with the cat... but they late night ladies made sure that we were ok and not sick and didn’t need dinner. Hello? Can we give these ladies a raise? What awesome employees! The manager had arranged for a private boat to pick us up in front of the villa -but due to the time/tide, the boat driver picked us up in the parking lot in his AC truck and drove us to a nearby pier (for 2,000 boat)! On our rushed way out I handed my dirty laundry and post cards to the manager and he smiled and handled EVERYTHING without any hesitation or questions!|I can not recommend this place enough... for a Thailand/Southeast Asia it’s a 5+ star facility! Legit it’s better than the Westin Siray Bay Spa & Resort. I would without hesitation recommend Tha Lane Bay Villas! The property is great (A+) but the employees make it an unforgettable experience! |We had an amazing time! We will undoubtedly return! Enjoy my amazing pics from...
Read moreSo let me begin with the fact that I knew we would not be near anything while we were here and that was perfectly o.k. because we thought we would have everything we needed while we were here. We were mistaken, the first night we arrived we realized our safe didn't work, they tried to fix it and it wasn't fixed, the TV did not work the entire time we were there, day 2 the internet was out for the majority of the day and the "buffet" breakfast was anything but that. You had to walk up these step stairs to the breakfast hall where there was one plate of fruit, a toaster with a bag of break, coffee with coffee grinds in it and a small mix of cereal, you could order off the menu but I got sick the first day from that so I opted out of that going forward. The toilets could accept toilet paper, which again for the price we paid that isn't acceptable as we were looking for Westernized amenities. The villa was the Chuba Rose - don't just don't do it if you are not staying in the same bed downstairs as the stairs upstairs to the "loft" space are absolute death traps and I feared for my sister's safety every single time she went up or down those stairs. The shower leaked and I mean full flow of water leaked so at 1AM I would be woken up by the leaky shower. This is NOT a two bedroom suite because the elderly or less than sprite could not get up those stairs. The staff cannot speak English, even passable English and on the last day for check out, they tried to check us out early as they had guests coming that day...too bad, check out is noon. They seemed annoyed by that fact. The savings grace for this hotel is the view, the view is to die for, anf the handyman is a really sweet man (I know cause he was at our villa every day trying to fix our...
