Lumen Bangkok Srinakarin — Hotel in Nong Bon Subdistrict

This hotel is no longer an affiliated hotel with the particular Thai surgeon.||||Construction around the perimeter is finished yet the 8th floor windows are filthy with cement splatter on them||Cleaning sometimes is the bare minimum, I used wet wipes on part of the sticky kitchen floor (a mop doesn’t seem to be a regular part of the cleaning), they didn’t always remember to replace teas, coffees and water and had to be asked.||Walk in shower often flooded, sometimes to the front of the sink and would take hours to drain away.||No place to sit and enjoy the sunshine unless it gets to your balcony and that’s where one of the air conditioning units are.||Missed opportunity for sun loungers or tables and chairs on the roof (where the restaurant used to be) with a vending machine for refreshments, the view (not from a seating position) is spectacular (lift to level 22 and walk up) although I realise most visitors aren’t there to sit about.||Great to have a washing machine, hang clothes on hangers and hang in either wardrobe, bathroom or for speed drying on rail on balcony, after cleaning glass, somebody told me machine drier works but takes hours. I visited 3 other apartments while there, they were lovely and that highlighted how neglected and tired our apartment was but at least we didn’t have a warning on our coffee table warning us if we broke it, we would be charged 7,500 baht. ||WiFi usually struggled after 9 p.m.||Being close to Seacon Square (one of the largest in Asia), Paradise Park and the Rot Fai market which comes alive after about 7 p.m. are good, especially if you are there for any length of time but if you are after tourist souvenirs you will not get them here apart from the elephant print trousers, if you’re into classic motorbikes and cars, there are loads in front of the American style diner within the market.||If your adventurous there is street food at the Rot Fai market and a large street food area in the basement of The Paradise mall, if you want to order food in, check out Food Panda for deliveries.||It was about 60 baht in a taxi to the BTS at Udom Suk and up to 59 baht to wherever you needed to go on the BTS line, which will be anything touristy, although there is one temple close by, you could see it if you had room at the rear of the hotel.||Supermarkets in Seacon Square are Tesco Lotus and one in the basement at the opposite end, there is a supermarket in the basement of Paradise Park at the end nearest to the hotel, this one is a World Village where you might find something that you can’t live without from home. There’s 7-eleven five minutes walk either direction from the hotel, there was one at the garage next door to the hotel but they ripped it apart while we were there.||The King Rama IX Park is nearby and is lovely for a walk but not if it’s too hot a day, they even have duck and swan pedalos, if your feeling energetic or there’s an outdoor gym.||Every car owner in Bangkok seems to hit the roads on a weekend (we suspected pollution for the overcast feeling on a weekend) and Srinakarin Road seems to be busy for 20 hours of the day from about 5 a.m., ask for a higher floor (we were on the 8th) to get away from the traffic noise.||Breakfast was adequate but as I was there for a month it became very repetitive.||Power cuts, during the first night and on two other nights, makes the the door bell ring and some lights come on and you can’t turn them off.||Broke a glass and was told they would need to charge me, fair enough, “100........150 baht” she seemed to have a problem remembering how much to rip me off, £3.75 for a glass, I think I’m paying for the taxi journeys to replace the thing. I must’ve not been trusted because it was never replaced while I was there, we had to start reusing our takeaway cups.||The staff are lovely, especially one of the receptionists, she was so friendly and would greet you with a lovely wave and a smile (I’m so sorry I didn’t get her name), I got the feeling some staff didn’t speak English or very little but definitely not a problem.||Naive mistake, as the breakfast staff had been so nice to me for the month I was there, on my last morning I tipped a 1000 baht and said it was to share and was disappointed that the member of staff I gave it to put it in his pocket, I later used Google translate to reiterate that it was for sharing as he wasn’t the only member of staff that served me, he said ok, not sure if that...

I would like to personally thank Mr. Vincent, who took accountability and apologized to us directly. He had a sincere conversation with me and my partner, took the time to truly listen to our observations, and kindly shouldered one of our dinners as a gesture of goodwill.

I genuinely appreciated that he took notes and welcomed our suggestions for improvement — that meant a lot to us.

Just today, I checked the gym and the male toilet. I’m happy to share that the toilet is no longer smelling, which is already a great improvement. While the air conditioning in the gym has not yet been replaced, I remain hopeful that it will be addressed soon so the gym can be fully functional again.

Will go back to review after our stay. So far, the gym Aircon is not working. Rude staff named, "M" "Em" at the lobby. Been waiting more than 10 minutes for the staff to check the Aircon after the first call but no one comes, need to follow up and she hang up on me then I called her again to ask her name. The chubby male staff came and used a translator, he cannot speak English, and he smells cigarettes during working hours. He said the Aircon is not working. I asked what can you recommend, he walked away. 😐

So far, the only thing that I like on the service are the Housecleaning. Other staffs needs Training even the breakfast staff, they talked so loud, like shouting with each other.

Also the gym smeeeeells a lot. I wonder if they even clean it. Smells from the toilet room.

The female and male staff that opens the door, they are kind and always smiling.

Rooms, outdated but it's fine. Wifi room is soooo bad, if you play mobile games on your phone, you will experience lagging. Compared to other Thai Hotels, we did not experience wifi lagging than this.

They will only give you two water bottles 😰😰😰 but they will refill the toothbrush/toiletries which is nice.

Location is good, we can go to the nearest mall and unwind,...

I often pass by this hotel and have always thought about staying here. Last night my wife and I had a good reason to and took the chance which did NOT dissapoint. Lumen Bangkok Srinakarin is hands down our new favorite hotel in Krungthep! Located almost directly across from paradise park and about a ten minute walk from the train srinakarin night market, this hotel offers spacious parking located just off the main street. They offer both a sauna in the men's bathroom and a steam room in the women's bathroom and a beautiful multi layered multi textured indoor pool that overlooks one of the main train lines and stays at a cool tempertaure perfect for cooling off. They provide a two room Gym that has both equipment in one room and free weights and yoga mats in the other. The rooms and price for accommodation are outstanding, the room itself offers a luxurious modern contemporary/art deco interior with a beautiful city view as a backdrop in the kitchen/living room that comes fully stocked with plates/utensils/ and glass cups in the kitchen and laundry machine area. The bathroom area is seperated and has a jacuzzi tub and stand up shower. The balcony area offers a great view at night, as well as the seperate bedroom area that has its own air conditioner and walk in closet. The biggest thing that separates this hotel the most however, is the staff. The staff at Lumen Bangkok Srinakarin are some of the most "genuinely" hospitable staff we have ever encountered and are extremely attentive and professional. While the last two traits are normally common for a four to five star hotel, the "genuineness" in their hospitality sometimes seems to be lacking. The same goes for the design, you can the owners took care in placement and design rather than following the "standard" layout that is becoming common with upscale hotels. So if you're looking for a beautiful hotel located in a great location with some of the "genuinely" friendliest staff you've ever met, make sure to check this place out. We will be back...
