My name is Vijay and I live in Sydney Australia.
I am a frequent traveller and have been travelling around the Europe, China, New Zealand and Australia for work and for business. In the last 10 years, if I have to summarize I have stayed more than 500+ nights in Europe (Czech, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Holland, Poland, and Luxemburg), 400+ nights in China, Hongkong, India, Thailand, Malaysia, UAE (Dubai), Qatar, and 200+ nights in Australia and New Zealand. I never thought of posting a review as I always had a Excellent experience in all the hotels across all the above mentioned countries and was very satisfied until now.
Recently I was travelling to Istanbul Turkey for the medical reasons and stayed in Renaissance Polat for six (6) nights and can say that this was the most horrible experience by far.
I will try to provide all the good and bad details for the people reviewing it.
Good Experience: Very professional and staff serving the Breakfast (No doubt - 5 stars) Room cleaning (4 stars)
Bad Experience (0 Star - Service): Very Unprofessional (0 star) Rude (0 star) Racist - As they were very warm to Turkish/European visitors (0 star) Empathatic (0 star)
Note: If you are brown/black skin don't go to this hotel as the Front Desk staff is very racist and you may not get the respect that everyone deserves
Sequence of events: 30.06.2022: Arrived at Hotel, the front desk guy was nice as I requested for higher floor. He told me very nicely that unfortunately all the rooms are booked we can change it tomorrow morning once people check-out - All good 01.07.2022: Went downstairs, one of the front desk guys said yes we have room available and will change after 2:00pm - All good Around 2:00pm, The guy I spoke was busy so I spoke to another guy. He told me sorry we don't give higher rooms with a good view for free and you have pay 30 Euros per night. Then that guy spoke to his other colleague in Turkish and started laughing. Looking at their attitude I declined and i stayed in the same room as I thought 30 Euros is too high 03.07.2022: I went to front desk to call for taxi, and luckily there was another girl available. I asked the question (just to confirm about the 30 euros), she said no there are no additional charges for the higher floor with good view and can be provided to the guests if they are available. So I again requested her if I can change. She said I will provide you a room as per my preference 04.07.2022: Don't know what happened in a day, I was again provided the room that had apartment view so no view at all. I request to change and She was very rude to me 06.07.2022: During the checkout, same girl was once again very rude to me when I went their to ask for the check-out time.
