The rooms are clean and tidy, which I definitely appreciate. However, I don't believe this hotel deserves a four-star rating. Not all staff members are friendly or helpful, and the breakfast became increasingly limited during the last days of my stay. The Wi-Fi in the hotel is terrible, and has been since my first day. The location is quite far from the main tourist attractions, so I find the room rates too high for what you actually get. The service offered to guests is minimal, and there’s certainly room for improvement, especially in terms of hospitality.
One thing I found particularly concerning: on the day of the earthquake, we—being tourists who don’t speak Turkish—received no information from the staff about what the authorities were advising or what actions we should take. In such a stressful situation, you expect clear communication and support from the hotel staff. The Wi-Fi also cuts out every five minutes (always, by the way, not only during the earthquake), which was very frustrating and made it difficult to stay connected.
I also had an unpleasant experience with the safe in my room. In the morning, it worked perfectly with the code I had set. However, after housekeeping had been in the room, I was suddenly unable to open it anymore—even though I was absolutely sure I was using the correct code. This left me with an uneasy feeling and the impression that someone had tampered with the safe.
This was my second stay at this hotel, and it will...
Read moreAfter visiting many hotels in Istanbul, Mugwort hotel & spa is by far the best: reason, the friendliest and most helpful staff. Also the large rooms, large lobby and breakfast area. 3 terraces on the ground floor. Relaxation area in the lobby where you can meet comfortably as well as the free wellness & spa area. Thanks to the lovely lady Pamuk who is responsible for the wellness & spa area. It is located in the commercial district of Esenyurt where you will find numerous shops, restaurants and a 10-minute walk from Marmara Park shopping mall. The hotel is located further from the historic center. If you are looking for a good, quiet neighborhood in Istanbul then you have come to the right place. I would like to express my thanks to Mr. Erkan from the reception who helps you where necessary. As well as Mss Esra and Mr. Gorkem from the night shift. The 3 members of the staff who assist wherever necessary: thanks to Eda, Cener and Yusuf, the most helpful people. The breakfast lady, Ms. Nilufer, and everyone else who ensured that we could thoroughly enjoy both cold and warm dishes. The ladies who clean the rooms ensure that everything was very clean and fresh. Mr. Levent provided a beautiful, well-maintained lobby. And big thanks to the manager/boss Mr. Deniz. It was a pleasure meeting you. See you at my next...
Read moreAmazing this is considered a 4 star hotel. It's 1 star hospitality with 2 star rooms. Hospitality is being generous. Not a smile or welcome from any staff, when I asked for maintenance they said they would send someone, no body ever came.
The rooms are, rooms as simple as that. They are ok, but don't have an iron or board, microwave, and sometimes non functioning lights. One night our bathroom sink just starting pumping a sewage smell into our room, the heater when on pumps in cigarette smoke into the room from the hallway, and the TV has 400 channels with only 20 or so with actual programming scattered among the 400, so it's a scavenger hunt to find nothing.
Do not come here for any kind of vacation, this is a health tourism hotel filled with outpatients bandaged and bleeding from cosmetic surgeries, so that's what you get to sit around when eating the free and very underwhelming breakfast.
Redeeming quality is the location is nice for that neighborhood, but if you are wanting to go to the city center, it's 2 hours by taxi in bumper to bumper traffic. So...
