Pastor Pension The Gulf of Izmir — Hotel in Konak

I think this hotel should get more credit on how welcoming and hospitable it is... the few staff giving service were some of the most wholehearted people and they're always at your service for smallest questions to fixing a problem late at night. Their constant and careful presence in hotel made me feel so safe as a young girl staying there by myself ... Its a quiet place with a great view of sea and the location is near to many grocery stores, cafe , pastries, local food and on the other hand close to bus station. I definitely recommend accommodating here for even few days. The atmosphere inside is so victorian and historic. It is so obvious how they have take pride and joy restoring the place Its all wooden with ancients frames of windows. And at night strawling inside the hotel makes you wanna grab a lantern and...

The gentleman at the reception was very friendly. Apart from the location, the room we stayed in was not clean, the floors, bed and bathroom were in terrible condition. The furniture in the room was in bad condition, there was a lot of noise coming into the room from outside (there may be nothing to do about this, since it is a historical building). There was a strong cigarette smell in the room until the morning. We considered leaving the accommodation if we weren't tired. Judging by the comments here, I think they stayed in very different rooms from us, under different conditions. You should not be deceived by the photos because unfortunately nothing had anything to do with the real thing. I hope they fix these shortcomings and people get what they paid for and they don't regret it...

I cannot say this place is not good. It’s just a normal pension in average level at most.

Pros, the place is ok (5mins walk to Izmir Tarhi and 15mins walk to Konak. The house is a historical building with wood floor. If you like to stay in an old room, this hotel can be a choice.

Cons, the room is not very clean, especially bath room. I found several stains in basin and cabinet. The shower leaks water and could not be fixed on the wall. Inside the room, the furnitures are very old.

In one word, if you pursue a clean & conformable hotel with a reasonable price, this place is NOT a good choice. I don’t know how it get above 4 stars on Google, but comparing to other pension I stated in Izmir, Istanbul, Cesme, and Pumakkle, the price of this pension is too high with the limited service...
