Really bad experience when I stay at Exedra Cave.
There was an unpleasant incident, so after 1 hour of entering the room, I found my room was very cold, apparently the room heater was broken. I called reception and was told to wait. After waiting 1 hour no one came, I went to the lobby to complain, was asked to wait again. Half an hour later still no one came, I went to the lobby and waited 40 minutes, while the children and wife were already cold, especially since the hotel didn't have blankets, only sheets. After 40 minutes in the lobby and seeing that the 4 heaters that the engineering staff had brought were not my quota, I was angry, the answer was just "there's nothing we can do except wait". While still angry, I just went to my room, unpacked clothes that could be used as blankets. Finally, after an hour, a portable heater was sent to the room. So in total I waited almost 4 hours. It's called a portable heater, it definitely takes time to heat up, so in the end we just had to sleep. After 8 hours the room temperature becomes a comfortable normal. Well, it turns out there were 2 other tour participants' rooms that were very positive thinking because the rooms were cold but didn't complain, so they wore 2 sets of jackets while sleeping because they thought it was a cave hotel feature so they slept in a natural atmosphere.
The hotel can actually be said to have a good landscape, but it is less effective for older people and those with children because the location of one room to another is quite far and requires stairs. The lobby is located on the top floor while the restaurant is located on the bottom floor, so if you have breakfast or dinner it's quite a long way up and down.
Arriving at the hotel, our luggage was dropped off by the hotel staff, immediately asked for dinner. The menu is rice, chicken, potatoes, vegetables, tomatoes, fried rice, fish, cheese, salad, various cakes, pudding.
After dinner, we were taken to our room by the staff, it turned out our room was close to the lobby so we had to climb 4 floors using stairs.
Arriving at the room, go into the room, the sleeping area is quite narrow because it only fits one mattress then the TV, the bathroom area is quite spacious combined with a cupboard and minibar. There is a shower sink and closet. The amenities are quite complete. You could say I was unlucky because I got a room with a narrow bedroom, the other room was more proportional (looked spacious). Because it's a cave hotel, the layout of one bedroom to another is of course different. At the Exedra Cave hotel we stayed 2 days. Our room also had a balcony (which of course I didn't use because it was so cold).
There are no swimming pool and gym facilities. There is only a lobby and restaurant.
Breakfast includes bread, crackers, cereal, nuts, honey, fruit, cake, pudding, salad, cold cut, cheese, boiled eggs, sausages, minced chicken, porridge, boiled Lombok,...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for three nights. The night I checked in the receptionist, didn’t know English at all. I had trouble to understand, and to communicate with her using a google translator. Somehow, I managed to check in. I was lucky to meet the gentleman who is a trainee at the same hotel, I would like to name him (Ali). he was really really helpful. He knew English really well and just to let you know that he knew five languages and he is only 20. At the time of check-in both my suitcases were broken by Turkish airlines and I needed to buy reasonable quality suitcase for my onward journey. In a small town it was a struggle to buy suitcase at night. Ali was helpful to organise a taxi for me and even accompanied me to help me to buy suitcases. Reception staff even couldn’t tell me that there is a restaurant who provides room Service. I came to know on the very last day that there is a restaurant and there is a room Service, which of course I utilised on my last night. Rooms were nice, spacious and air-conditioning was working well. Breakfast was available 4 levels below the reception and there was no lift. People who struggle to go down the stairs and come back again, will not be able to enjoy the breakfast at all ( I am one of them). There was no room service for the breakfast. We did not avail the breakfast service even for a single day. At the time of checkout in the morning, I had two big suitcases and requested for bellboy to get my luggage to the car. Unfortunately, they told me that there is no bellboy available before 7 am. I persisted. Somehow they managed a person who could get my luggage to the car which was appreciated. So for a four star hotel person with a reasonable knowledge of English should be available so that the basic communication can be established. This is tourist place, we came all the way from Australia to see this place( Cappadocia). I would not recommend this place to foreigners, save your money and go elsewhere with better staff...
Read moreAvoid this hotel. Tourist trap. We made a fully prepaid reservation for two nights. The front office manager is very unprofessional and rude. First started to ask for extra 35euros off the booking, after it magically turned into 140euro. We had to stop our vacation after one night as the reception personnel was constantly confused with the extra amounts they want us to charge for the already prepaid double room. They were literally calling to our room closer to 12 am and asking “35euro”. At the end just to resolve the upcoming conflict we still payed extra 70€ for the first night we stayed as they wanted. We didn’t get any receipt though for what exactly had we paid. I asked to talk to the general manager for further explanation and for a possible regulation of the conflict but we were refused. The front office manager literally said I’m the manager here. The breakfast was also very bad, all the buffet items like salami, cheeses etc were slightly dried- aired out, unfortunately I didn’t take a picture. The pool is also very small not like on the hotel pictures and incredibly cold, impossible to swim. The only person we felt professionalism from was the waiter lady at the pool. I think her name was Nata (sorry if I spelled it wrong). I’m a regular guest at Cappadocia region and it was unfortunately the worst experience. Try to prefer smaller boutique hotels...
