Read moreThis hotel is probably one of the top five luxury hotels you can stay at in Kapadokya, and definitely at the top of the list in Ürgüp. Upon check-in, Arda and his team were a huge help to us, and he graciously accommodated a request to change one of our rooms as it was a very special trip. His hospitality made a wonderful first impression of the property that was followed up by great care from the rest of the hotel and spa staff. If you appreciate thoughtful design, contemporary architecture that pays homage to local historical motifs, and attention to numerous details that make up a opulent guest experience, this is the place to stay.
I do not see a separate place to leave a review for the restaurant specifically, and I want to make sure the hotel team receives the rating they deserve, which is why this is a 5 star review - but the quality of the restaurant is very weak. I understand this is a new property and so the restaurant is probably still getting on its feet, but our attempt at dining in the restaurant for dinner was the kind of experience that makes you want to warn people to stay away. This being said, I am sure the restaurant will improve. The breakfast service is leaps and bounds above the dinner service, so don't be afraid to enjoy kahvaltı on property, but I'd recommend going elsewhere for dinner. Our negative experience was acknowledged and remedied by incredible hotel staff members, which again speaks to the remarkable quality of hospitality that is present here, but just currently lacking in the restaurant.
The pool, spa, and gym at Alden Hotel are absolutely 10/10.
Overall, Alden is a wonderful hotel and I highly highly recommend staying. I look forward to...
Read moreThe Alden Hotel is a beautiful space with incredible decor and views. The beds were luxurious and comfortable and you certainly get a great night's rest.
From the service side, this hotel definitely has the potential to be 5* but isn't quite there yet. A few reasons: service staff on the front desk aren't quite there in terms of professionalism and politeness. The hotel manager/customer relations do a great job but in all my dealings with the reception, I thought things could be better no availability of irons for safety reasons so you have to use laundry services to get items pressed at extra cost. I think there could be a workaround for this I used the laundry service for a few items and it wasn't clear how much one of the items (dress) would cost upfront. It would have been better to provide a range than be shocked at the charge for cleaning a dress (no ironing done) food at the restaurant was average. I had dinner twice as well as breakfast. Maybe 6/10 from the hotel website detail, I expected the hot air balloons would be closer to view from the terrace but it's a bit of a distance
There are nice touches like molton brown toiletries and early check in provided and I think, as the hotel is only a year old, it is still developing - but I had high expectations from other 5* hotels - and they weren't quite met here. Overall I'm still glad I...
