First thing we noticed about this hotel is that a LOT of areas were under construction. The area where the main lobby is is very dark. They definitely need more lighting in there. ||Our room was on a recently renovated floor, so it was nice. The only thing was there was a smell in the room that we couldn’t get rid of. It smelled like someone had been smoking in there and they tried to air it out, but it lingered. ||We went to the pool twice during our stay. It can get crowded at times. We thought it odd that to get to the pool, you had to walk through the restaurant. But maybe that was because so many things were being renovated? The pool was nice, just against wish there were some no smoking areas there. It was hard to get away from the smell of cigarette smoke.||The breakfast and dinner buffets were both pretty good. I especially enjoyed the desserts at dinner. One thing though, no one would ever come to our table so that we could order drinks every time we went there. So we would often go back up to the room and bring down a water. Then be questioned where we got the water from. Yet no one would let us order drinks. ||The gym there is basically unusable. It has a tile floor which makes it slippery since it’s connected to the spa and it’s very humid. A lot of the equipment is super rusty and it’s so hot down there, it’s not worth it to work out.||Overall, this is an ok hotel. It definitely needs improvements. I would say to check it out after they’ve completed their...
Read moreIf you are in floors 1-3, this hotel is a zero stars experience. If you're on the 4th and especially the 5th floor, this goes up considerably.
We stayed here 2 nights. The first night we were on the 3rd floor. You hear EVERYTHING. People stomping around upstairs, people in the hallways. People crying from the misery of their hotel rooms. It was so bad. To make the experience worse, the mattress was the absolute worst mattress I have ever felt. I would have been more comfortable sleeping on the ground. I don't think I slept more than 2 hours and that was after taking a sleeping pill that usually knocks me out for at least 6 hours. The room also felt old. Really old. And dungeon like. These were similar complaints from others in our group.
Now this whole experience changed when we got moved to the 5th floor the second night. The best mattress I have slept on in Turkey, there really wasn't much competition. The room was quiet. Absolute silence. And it felt spacious and ample. 100% turnaround. So for that, I will bump it to 4 stars.
You're going to have the standard dining experience you get with most Turkish buffets. The same stuff. Nothing to write home about. Someone else in our group raved about the bartender and how he was willing to learn new drinks. Apparently he loved the hot toddy so much, he was recommending it to other guests.
I guess the big takeaway here is: stay on the 5th floor. Otherwise this may be an...
Read moreA pretty nice place to stay while visiting Cappadocia. Our room was spacious and nicely appointed; we were on the 5th floor and had a balcony (Room 502). Everything was clean and well taken care of. So why not 5 stars?
Well, where to begin? A number of minor annoyances, to be sure. First of all, we stayed there two nights. Each morning after breakfast, we'd head up to the 5th floor and down the loooong hallway to our room, only to find that our key card had been de-activated. So back down the hallway, and down the stairs (the elevators were too busy at that time of the morning). Then back up. One day? It would happen to anyone. Both days? Label that an annoyance. Also - the bar. Our first evening there my wife and I ambled down to the bar. There was no one else there other than the bartender - I placed my order (vodka, neat). He nodded in agreement, then went back to working on an order for I don't know how many - he wound up carrying two trays. It took him about 15 minutes to get back and pour my drink. I've worked service before - if you have a large order (for people in another room) but can handle one very quick pour before finishing the big one, you do it. Am I wrong?
Back to the pleasantries: if you get a chance, visit the hotel gardens in the morning. We were blessed to witness a few hummingbird moths feasting on nectar. Just a...
