Half Truths are Whole Lies. Owner, Amy assured me on phone just before my trip as stated on her website there was a restaurant called Bob’s Bar next door I could use as there are no eating places within a couple kilometers close to this isolated location. The day I arrived she pointed out Bob’s Bar, her neighbor across the marina where the Inn sits. Low and behold I walk over the first nite and the place is closed. I asked her about it the next morning and she said it just closed that morning as they were on vacation then discombobulating the story more afterwards they were closed September and October saying I should done my research that some places close this time of year for Hurricane. Which story is it Amy as u told me how close you were with your neighbors like jointly sharing a night security patrol. The second deception is while i went to use the very nice pool the first afternoon I was there, their were more than 20 plus local children in the pool.. I was told after the fact the pool was used in the afternoon for free swim lesson but the whole truth she runs an Aquatic Center there. Bless each and every child but I don’t want to use a pool with mostly unshowered children as u and I know when we were very young we just peed in the pool rather than interrupting our pool fun. @ no time even when i spoke with her that morning while chatting together @ the pool that it was used for that. So the two things I wanted most in such an isolated location one place to eat and private hotel pool were not going to happen. I left the next morning for a hotel on Grace Bay one of the world's nicest beaches as I have been to many having worked in Hawaii, Micronesia, and Polynesia. I found out the hard way but only temporarily anyone not staying on Grace Beach is missing the best of Provo. While the Grace Bay beach is open to all, parking is not allowed at the all the hotels and private properties that line Grace Bay so be prepared for that even if you have a renatl car. If you stay at the Inn you will DEFINITELY need a rental car as there is no Uber or Lyft in the TCI and limited & expensive taxi service which you won't know unless you call beforehand as the owner doesn''t mention it on...
Read moreThis hidden gem is a must if you visit Provo, Turks. We needed an overnight stay, and of course if you're on an island, the view is a must. Wow! The Banyan had spectacular views of the ocean, and delivered on so many levels. First, the view is amazing- the color of the tidal river and ocean is a turquoise I have never seen in my travels. Mother Nature has been kind to Turks and Caicos. But let me describe the care behind the scenes that Amy and Randy thoughtfully and carefully prepared. There are four rooms available right now that have been completed with six total, so you get the know the owners immediately. They are hard workers and both provide a warm atmosphere. For example, our room was super clean, the colors reflect the ocean waters, and the woodwork is gorgeous. The mattress was super soft and comfortable. I know that when I stay at hotels, the mattress can either break your back or crick your neck, or if you're lucky it actually does the job. Amy did a fantastic job reviewing mattresses and comfort level and made sure the next morning that we did indeed sleep well. Speaking of comfort level, the walk-in shower with those blue tiles once again speaks of Mother Ocean, the toilet seat lid doesn't crash down (my 3am duties thanks you for that), and the breakfast of apple fritter personally served by Amy was delicious as we sat at the family style table and discussed plans for the day with other travelers. If I would have known how quaint and awesome Banyan Inn was from the beginning, we would have stayed the entire week instead of at a condo in Grace Bay. Here's the part that puts Banyan above all the rest: on day two and three of our vacation, the whole island had a power outage. Mind you, we had already checked out. We were hot, sweaty, and in desperate need of a hot shower. We stopped by the inn, spoke to Randy and Amy, and they offered us a shower right there on the spot. That spoke volumes about how these two run their establishment-you are treated like family. My hope is that the Banyan remains a hidden gem, but with their friendly and welcoming approach in serving travelers, it will soon be the hotspot with bookings...
Read moreThe Banyan Inn was exactly what my friend and I were looking for, an incredibly peaceful and beautiful getaway from our normally busy lives!! This had a real bed and breakfast type feel, so personal and laidback, like you were visiting a friends house for the weekend. Amy, the owner, is so awesome!! She is down to earth, fun to talk to, and was so attentive in helping us with recommendations whenever we needed it, and even took us to the grocery store when we arrived!! She had the room stocked with bug spray, sunblock, beach chairs and towels, snorkel gear, basically anything you could need! She has kayaks you can take out whenever you want as well, and my friend and I kayaked a short distance from the inn to this private beach, which I highly recommend as it’s beautiful (see pictures). The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and nicely designed! Black, the inn keeper, and Leslie, the grounds keeper, are so friendly as well and willing to help with whatever you need. The only issue we had was not listening to Amy when she told us to reserve a car before we arrive, rookie mistake!! If Amy tells you to get a car, LISTEN TO HER!! Unless you are staying right along grace bay and plan on only staying in that area, you will need transportation to get around the island as things are spread out quite a bit, and taxis are hit or miss (no gov regulation so they can charge whatever they want). Luckily, my friend and I found this wonderful man named Donovan that was super reliable and honest so he took us to and from most places. If you’re not sure whether to book, this is your nudge to just book it already, you will not be...
