I can’t say enough positive things about Harbour Club Villas & its proprietors, Marta, Barry & Mike! We stayed here in July 2017 with our 2 kids & Harbour Club was the perfect place for our vacation home base in the TCI. Here’s the highlights:
Squeaky Clean!
I’ve lived & worked in a variety of tropical places in the Caribbean, FL, HI & more for 50+ years. Roaches, ants & other bugs are simply the norm, even in the nicest residences / hotels. HCV is the first tropical place I’ve ever stayed that was completely bug free! They use a simple vinegar solution to clean the villas & take other non-pesticide steps to keep the villas bug free. They empty your trash daily & sprinkle salt (I think) along the windowsills to keep the bugs out. Their maintenance guy was onsite daily, always cleaning, landscaping, painting, tec.
Helpful, Genuine Hosts
Normally, we don’t tend to interact with staff / owners that much while on vacation, but we came to really enjoy chatting with Marta, Barry & Mike as we came & went, or relaxed by the pool with a cocktail at the end of the day. They were always available to answer a question or help us with getting the in-residence kayaks down to the doc, etc.
We originally were scheduled to visit HCV in March, but my daughter broke her leg badly & we had to postpone. Marta was more than gracious with helping us reschedule & by the time we arrived in July, I felt like I had already made a friend! They truly enjoy what they do & go all out to ensure guests feel welcome, unlike some paid staff at even high-end resorts. It seems like they know everyone on the island too, so they can make recommendations for activities & restaurants.
Fantastic Location
One of the reasons we chose HCV was its central location & proximity to dive boats. We knew we were going to be roaming the island visiting a variety of beaches, snorkeling spots, restaurants, etc. so we didn’t want to stay at one end of the island. We like to avoid crowds & prefer quiet beaches, so we didn’t want to stay in Grace Bay. HCV has only 6 villas, so even if every villa was occupied, the place would never seem crowded. The island’s largest grocery store is nearby, so it was easy to swing by to pick up groceries.
HCV is perched on top of a big hill, so there is almost always a nice breeze. Many of the dive boats go right out of their marina, so if you’re going diving, you only need to walk down to the dock in the morning to meet your boat.
Staying at HCV was a great choice for us & we can’t say anything negative...
Read moreThis was our second time visiting Turks after staying at another location for a wedding ten years ago. This time, we wanted to bring our extended family here and find something that could accommodate us all, giving everyone, including our two teenage kids more space to spread out. My parents always love staying at bed and breakfast type places, and for their first time to the island, I thought that they and all of us would enjoy this location and the potential to connect with our knowledgeable hosts. Though we arrived in the aftermath of “biblical” rains and continual rain our first couple of days, which led to battling many mosquitoes, we didn’t let that get in the way of having a fun-filled week at Harbour Club and exploring the island. We really benefited from their recommendations of where to snorkel near Smith Reef, where we saw amazing marine life each time we went, as well as some of the quieter but beautiful beaches like Taylor Bay and Sunset. Having a Jeep Wrangler to navigate a lot of rocky, bumpy, unpaved roads was definitely a help. We loved having the living space for family game nights and the kitchens so we could make most of our meals. Super helpful that the grocery store is so close. We did pack a suitcase full of food and bug spray/sunscreen which also saved some $. This allowed us to splurge on some fun cocktails and lunches at different resorts on Grace Bay and to enjoy incredible dinners and sunsets at Vita, Bay Bistro, and Sui-Ren. We also went to Bob’s Bar a couple times and loved the atmosphere despite the attacking mosquitos! And to top it all off, Marta went out of her way to make sure that a couple items my son accidentally left were returned, and Mike helped my husband vacuum out our Jeep since it was covered in sand so we didn’t get any fees from the rental company. Would definitely return again but ideally not in the rainy season! Adjusting to the heat/humidity in most rooms in the unit was a little tough at first, but we got used to it and my daughter was able to sleep pretty well each night on the sofa bed in the main living space. We also all thoroughly enjoyed the recommended snorkel sailing trip that Marta recommended on Atabeyra through Sun Charters. The crew was so fun, and we all were totally captivated by seeing the famous dolphin Jojo approach the boat and then proceed to have a “play date” in the water with the captain’s dog Finn. Thanks for being such wonderful hosts, Marta, Barry, and Mike! We...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed for 5 nights. The villa was perfect for us. Easy to find and everything concentrated in one area. You park your car and the villa is a 30 second walk away. There is a small pool with loungers around it, and two sitting areas by the pool-one covered with a barbecue and one open. The pool area is lovely, calming and comfortable.||The villa itself is clean and brightly decorated with lots of windows and ceiling fans. The kitchen has the basics for making easy meals. We grocery shopped and made breakfast every day to get started before we headed out. The area that the villas are in is quiet with only random traffic on Venetian Rd. I was kind of expecting a little more action/partying around the pool area when the weekend came but that never happened. The marina behind the villas is very scenic and we walked down there several times, even went to Bob's Bar for dinner once. Quiet area suited us, we didn't come on vacation here to party, just wanted some rest and relaxation.||Marta advised us to rent a car. That was interesting driving on the left side of the road. We live in the U.S. so we drive on the right!!! She helped us with car rental arrangements and was very helpful, answering probably what seemed to her like a million questions. ||Overall I would highly recommend Harbour Club Villas & Marina. We thoroughly enjoyed spending 5 nights in our villa and would recommend this for anyone seeking a quiet, relaxing area that is easily walkable and very enjoyable. This area suited us, but may not suit everyone who is looking for beaches/stores/activities close by. Everything is within close driving however, so don't let being away from the main beach area deter you from considering this place.||Thank you to Marta and her son Mike for welcoming us and taking good care of us. The details do matter. Simple things like having two beach chairs and a small cooler for us to use at the beach was such...
