A Disappointing Experience: My Worst Stay in East Africa

I’ve traveled across East Africa, but this stay ranks as my worst experience of accommodation by far. The unprofessionalism and lack of basic hospitality from the staff made it unbearable. The housekeepers were some of the stingiest people I’ve encountered. They were uncooperative and completely unwilling to help, fixated on every last cent—even over the tiniest amount, like $0.05.

Here’s what happened. I booked my room via Booking.com, but upon arrival, I decided to upgrade to a bigger room with a bathroom. They told me the room would cost $43, but I pointed out that on Booking.com, the same room was listed for $38. Instead of simply honoring the rate or negotiating reasonably, they demanded that I cancel the booking (which had no free cancellation option) and rebook at the higher rate. When I suggested I top up the difference from the booking price, they refused. They were insistent that I pay the higher rate, even though the room was listed for $38 on Booking.com. The lack of flexibility and understanding was astonishing. And it was even very Late and I was tired from traveling and wanted to rest.

The next day, I paid in US dollars, as they were offering an unfair exchange rate of 3785UGX = $1 if I paid in local currency. I expected my change in dollars, which they promised. However, the following day, they said they had no dollars and would refund me in Ugandan shillings. To add insult to injury, they wanted to use the daily rate of 3620 UGX = $1, despite having charged me the higher rate of 3785 UGX the day before. I felt cheated and misled.

Their justification for the pricing was that other guests paid the same amount for the room. If you don’t like the price Booking.com offers, then don’t list your property there! Don’t turn away customers over a few dollars. What frustrated me most wasn’t the money but their rude, uncooperative attitude. We had no other choice but to stay a second night, because it didn’t make sense to change accommondatio for only one more Night we had to stay in entebbe. but it was a miserable experience. At one point, one housekeeper offered the room for $40/per Night for both nights, but another insisted on $43. It was confusing and left me feeling unwelcome.

And then there was the room itself. The water pressure was terrible, the mattress was hard, and the bed sagged in the middle. The mosquito net barely fit over the bed, leaving us exposed. For the price, I expected much more comfort. Breakfast was equally disappointing—just tea or coffee with eggs and bread or chapati. No fresh fruits or avocado or anything to justify the cost. I’ve stayed in better, cheaper places in Zanzibar than this, and this was in Entebbe, far from anything. And to Point out fruits and Avocados and Everything is very cheap in uganda.

In summary, I cannot recommend this place. There are far better options in Entebbe for your money. From the unwelcoming staff to the lackluster amenities, this was a huge letdown. Avoid this place...

Stayed here for three separate nights during a longer trip across Uganda, two of them with my father.||I can highly recommend it as a very good place to stay. Jude and Leonard, the hosts, are kind, hardworking, and flexible. Leonard stayed up to 12.30am to welcome me when I arrived from the airport on the first night! They helped book airport taxis. They cleaned and prepared their pool for us. They both speak good English.|The rooms are adequately sized and comfortable, equipped with fans. The twin room even had a mini fridge. There are shared bathrooms (ensuite for the twin room) which have cold, low-pressure showers, although this is standard in Uganda.|We were given free access to any kitchen equipment or filtered water we needed during our stay. There is fast, free wifi.|There is plenty of space to sit outside in their garden and on their balcony.|One of the cheapest accommodations I could find in Entebbe.||Downsides: can be a little hard for drivers to find and the road there is bumpy! We were offered breakfast as part of our stay, but this was served over an hour later than promised on...

Dadas mis circunstancias de buscar lugares tranquilos y lejos de ruidos, es un lugar ideal tanto para stopovers, como cortas o largas estancias en Entebbe, sea como sólo traveller, como viajando en pareja o en familia. Dispone de una hermosa zona ajardinada muy original y polifuncional, muy bonita, verde y agradable para relajarse, comer o conversar, y en algún caso atender negocios online, por lo que observe. Dispone de bar, mesas, y si el calor apura de piscina. Mi habitación disponía de cama grande con mosquitera, y de los necesarios enchufes para recargar dispositivos, así como baño con agua caliente. Hay un refrigerador a disposición de los clientes para guardar comidas o bebidas. Asimismo hay un dispensador de agua embotellada para que los huéspedes puedan rellenar sus botellas de forma gratuita. Se sirven comidas a, petición y también esta permitido solicitar comidas fuera. Y con todo, lo más valioso o lo que más destaca de la propiedad es su staff, súper atentos, supere eficientes, excelente trato y con genuina voluntad de servir y hacer fácil y grata la estancia al viajero que se hospeda, defendiendo sus intereses, asegurando sus traslados en tiempo y por un precio justo, y supongo que la persona propietaria es consciente del capital humano de que dispone en su establecimiento con tales empleados y que son insustituibles y dignos de ser apreciados por su excelencia en la realización de su trabajo. Mi lugar de elección en Entebbe. No es luxury plus, pero es plus en bienestar y buen trato. La persona propietaria debería hacer por mejorar la única asignatura pendiente : la WiFi, limitada, inestable e insuficiente por ejemplo para cubrir el área de jardín y esparcimiento, para un disfrute y relax pleno.
