Peniel Beach Hotel — Hotel in Entebbe City

This hotel has been converted to a Covid testing facility. Operator of that facility is a company called "Test & Fly."

FRAUDSTERS. BUYER BEWARE.

"Test & Fly" posts PCR test price on their website and also their Twitter feed. Advertised price is 200,000 (see pics).

Tried ordering PCR test on company’s website but order form presents price of 250,000. Why the difference of 50,000?

Company provides WhatsApp number for questions. I inquired why price is advertised at one rate but when trying to purchase, price is different rate. I specified location is Entebbe (see chat transcript).

Company responded on WhatsApp confirming price is 200,000 and that walk-ins are welcome at Entebbe.

I went to Entebbe location (Peniel Beach Hotel) and was told price is 250,000. I showed them their own company website's PCR test price and also the WhatsApp chat with company representative confirming Entebbe price of 200,000.

Company representatives found the matter quite funny. Their smugness suggests they are accustomed to and enjoy customers expecting one price and being presented another. Company’s representatives made no effort to escalate the matter or address discrepancy in any way.

I messaged company on WhatsApp complaining advertised price I'd confirmed via WhatsApp was not honored. As of ten hours later, I've received no response.

I walked out. In my country this business practice is called "fraud” and people go to jail for it. Perhaps at minimum here readers of this review might not be bait & switched as I was. I had ample time to explore other options. I suspect many people needing PCR tests in Entebbe do not enjoy luxury of time and must pay whatever price this company wishes to extort.

I ended up going to "Same Day Laboratories” and they did exactly what they advertised for price they advertised. Nice to know there's at least one professional testing facility in town.

We travel to Uganda about two or three times a year. Rather than going straight on to Kampala, as usual, this time we decided to stay over in Entebbe on the night of our arrival. I therefore booked and paid in full for this hotel in June 2018. My booking was confirmed and “guaranteed” in writing. I spent ages choosing the hotel from a combination of research and other reviews on TripAdvisor. ||About a week before we were due to arrive I asked the hotel about an airport shuttle. Although my message was read shortly after, they didn’t reply. I contacted them again on the night before we were due to arrive to be informed that they had given our room to somebody else. They would provide us with a car from the airport to take us to the Livani Beach Motel, some 7km further away.||I paid about £56 for the room at Peniel Beach Hotel. A quick check online found I could get the Livani Beach Motel for as little as £28 so I asked if I would get a refund. There was no reply. ||On the night of arrival, we were driven to the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It was dreadful and I’ve reviewed it separately. ||A few days later, with no reference to me whatsoever, a sum of £6.50 was refunded to my credit card; presumably the difference in price that the Peniel Beach Hotel thought was appropriate. I certainly didn’t think it appropriate. ||So, I’m sure the Peniel Beach Hotel is a nice hotel. After all, I chose it after a lot of research.
