Once again its not easy to review a hotel in a place like Uganda. It certainly wasn't a bad hotel but they just didn't get the basics right. 45-50 minute wait for some of the most basic of foods from the menu. Not just once, every time. Even a cup of tea would take at least ten minutes to arrive. |I asked for some ironing to be done but they washed the shirts and needed to dry them then iron them meaning I was late for a meeting. |The staff are nice people but need a lot of training. The room 207 was on a corner one side facing the bar area which meant it was noisy and there were holes and bumps in the walls. |Hanging space for clothes but not drawer space at all which meant having to get a suitcase out every day |The hotel is tiled everywhere so noise just echoes throughout and because it was raining could be slippery at times although the staff kept the place clean. |Just to say, the staff were nice it's the speed at which things got done which was a let down. |It should be pointed out that the rooms are in a square and each door opens onto a corridor with a huge opening in the centre so you can view the reception in the centre on the ground floor. There's a solid bar railing all the way around so it's quite safe. I'm told it's one of the more expensive hotels around and for that I'd expect the service to be a little...
Read moreThis is a very good deal for the area and the cost is is low for the quality.||Stayed a week at the Glory Summit for a visit to Lake Albert and a discussion among participants in a UNEP study. ||The hotel is relatively new, rooms are large and sparsely but sufficiently furnished with comfortable beds and bedding.||Clean and no bugs.||Water pressure is low but adequate.||The one elevator mostly works.||The breakfast can include an omelette to order and brewed coffee by request, dinner is hit and mostly miss.||Internet comes and goes but is often good enough for Google Earth but seldom able to support Skype.||It is possible to pay with a credit card for a 5% charge and some patience.||The conference facilities are the best in town - four rooms good for 10 to 40 people for about USD60...
Read moreThe staff are friendly but they need training in dealing with people correctly. The food is fine but the time from ordering to the table was in one case in excess of 45 mins. This wasn't a one off, for our entire stay arrived on a Monday and left on Saturday it was super slow. The management need to take a trip to Javas and sit and observe. Nice staff but need training. The hotel is odd in that its seems inside out. Can't quite explain. Reception is ground floor and as it's all tiles and marble everywhere the TV and phone calls from reception can be heard upstairs in your own room. For where it is it's clean enough. Hoima has struck oil and the place is going to go up market. If a major chain hotel comes and Glory Summit Hotel doesn't up its game it'll be...
