Itambira Island, Seeds of Hope — Hotel in Itambira Island

Hotel is fine, beautiful location and nice sitting area. Give it a 3 because we watched the owner(or manager) acknowledge every other guest but our group of 5. She physically went over to every guest group but us. Each of us noticed this separately. Just gave us a bad vibe. We are 3 teachers, a psychologist and a doctor. We have been in a different hotel every night of our tour in Uganda and this was our last night. We have never had an issue at any of our other lodges, we had great experiences. The doctor in our group asked if all of the items for appetizers were available to the staff member taking our order. I heard her (manager or owner) whispering to staff that he asked for each appetizer and laughing like how dare he ask for all 3, which was not the case. Small things like that, whispering about guests is just not something someone running a lodge should do in my opinion. Thats my review….not a terrible place, but we had exceptional experiences at every other lodge and this was just ok. No Wi-Fi or TV in rooms…just so you know. We had to sit in lobby area...

The location and hotel are very beautiful. We loved it at first until it came time to pay and they were clearly just milking money out of us cus they thought we wouldn't care. The boat ride to the island was included, but then after we get off the island when we're leaving they're like "oh it's another 25,000 shillings for the boat ride back". They very deliberately avoided putting it on the receipt and I have no doubt they weren't supposed to ask for it. We confirmed with our Ugandan friend who had recommended the place that he was never asked to pay for any boat rides. Management should do something about it because no matter how nice a place is you can't feel comfortable if people are trying to scam you. If we're mistaken and we are supposed to pay workers in cash after closing our bill, they should change...

The location is simply gorgeous if you are looking for relaxation. Far from any hustle and bustle on an island in the lake. Rarely do you hear anything other than the natural ambient sounds and automatically relax. The apartments are functional and nicely furnished. Electricity is available between 6 and 10 pm or on request. The water in the shower is nice and warm and the pressure is strong. The food in the restaurant is excellent, the selection large and reasonably priced. The included breakfast consisted of a hot drink, fruit juice, eggs, toast and honey with a choice of different preparations/juices. There was also a rich extended optional breakfast menu. The staff is very friendly and genuinely caring. We felt really comfortable and taken care of. We would really like to spend some more time...
