Previously known as the ARA (American Recreation Association), Makindye Country Club is a lovely welcoming club, open to everyone, not just expats. The membership entitles you to a wide range of sports (swimming pool, tennis courts, excellent gym, and more), a brilliant children’s play area, comfy TV room, bar and pool table, restaurant, book and DVD lending library and business facilities. There is a good range of exercise classes and activities on throughout the week, and a restaurant often features specials such as apple crumble. (My favourite!) The monthly Saturday MCC flea market is an institution in its own right! Makindye Country Club has some lovely self contained rooms and suites in their compound, which are perfect for business visitors who don’t want to stay in congested city accommodation; for people visiting friends and relatives in Uganda, and for those who want a much more intimate setting to stay in for a few days or even weeks. MCC is the right side of town for the airport, making airport transfers that much less of a hassle. MCC also has a small conference room that can seat up to 40 people. They’ve hosted a wide range of functions, for embassies, NGOs, business and private parties, using their own catering services. They also do catering for large events at a client’s...
Read moreA big thank you to all the staff at Makindye Country Cub who made my recent training event run so smoothly.||Staff were very quick to reply to my email enquiries. ||I dropped by the club the day before to check everything was in place and so it was. My event started early the next morning and I was super grateful that staff came in early to organise last-minute printing for me and check every aspect of the day. The room was ready and there wasn't much for me to do. That was very reassuring!||The tea and coffee breaks were punctual and all the eats were freshly prepared and very tasty. After the event, I asked my 30 trainees to give feedback on the venue and they unanimously agreed it had worked very well indeed.||The club has a conference room in a quiet corner of the compound. I plan to hold future training events there.||I also stayed at Makindye Country Club a few weeks ago. As a long-term expat, I love going somewhere that I see familiar faces, of both the staff and the members. Service is always excellent, and friendly. I can't wait to go back and stay there later in the month. This time I must remember my...

It was spicy, she couldn't even eat it, so we switched. Our friend asked for a vegetarian curry and got... a vegetarian fagitas |We didn't want to make more "trouble"|Then we got the bill and they charged 15000 for a glass of wine whilst the card said 10000. |When we asked for a correct bill we had a long discussion |For the price you pay, this is absolutely not a...
