This place is a gem! Our pitch could've fitted eight big caravans on it, it was so spacious. Lovely views. Really tidy well kept site and owner friendly and helpful. Other reviews say the loos aren't scrubbed spotless clean daily and I'd agree. I wouldn't eat off the floor (bits of grass here and there) but there's no smell and I never found the blocks shut. So with pitch prices half that of a caravan club site I'd expect a bit less military cleanliness. However in a whole week not once was there a lack of loo roll and there was always hand soap, so they must be checked regularly. Never any rubbish on the floor or anything yuck. The shower and loo blocks look like the refurbs over the years have been DIY but it's charming. The 20p for six minutes shower is entirely appropriate and no bother at all. I'd rather my soap dodging family didn't pay for everyone else's two showers a day anyway, and the time clears people out efficiently so I never waited more than a few minutes. There's great bin and recycling provision. I took my own household electric kettle and had a hook up for my tent, so can't comment on the pot wash. If your human or pet companions can't cope with unexpected loud noises, the RAF base within spitting distance of the site might be undesirable. The planes taking off and playing around overhead were fascinating to us and only were during weekdays and working hours when we were there, but they do rip through the sky and take off sounds like standing next to a ferry as it strains to leave the harbour. The beaches were truly fab. Cable bay, if it was Cornwall you would be parked a mile away and it'd be packed. Not so here. There's sand dunes and rockpools all nearby to enjoy. Also national trust properties and Telford's bridge at Menai Bridge. Plus birds at the stack. The campsite would be perfect for a fortnight holiday, kids or no kids. You wouldn't have run out of...
Read moreNot for us. Lovely location and beautiful views but extremely overpriced for the basics on offer. We had a sloping pitch was was a pain for trying to eat/drink at the table which kept toppling over, the toilets and showers very basic, dated and in need of a good thorough clean. The 6 minutes you get for the shower isn't long enough when you're having to hang your stuff up, strip off, wash hair, shower kids etc. The fact that each shower cubicle has no drying or dressing area within each cubicle was very poor as everything gets soaked unless you have a dry robe towel/over-coat which we didn't have. No toilets in the shower block so having to go to two separate buildings was a pain. I'd stay again for a couple of nights over a sunny weekend if it was £20 a night, but definitely not worth £35. In the rain, it's pretty miserable,...
Read moreThe campsite has beautiful views and the grounds are well maintained. |The showers are 20p as stated which are adequate. What was a surprise, was the fact that you had to pay for hot water to wash your pots and pans (20p), and wait for the heater to get to temperature. |The toilets do not have hot water at the sinks, and there is nowhere to dry your hands. In the ladies toilet, the light goes out after two minutes. Difficult to reactivate the sensor whilst sitting in a cubicle. |Considering the £30 per night to stay at the site, you would think that hot water was an essential. |They have Wi-Fi at the site but it is at a cost. £5/day! |Also, the camp owners dogs are constantly barking (even through the night), which is not what you want if you’re relaxing &...
