My husband and I visited around 2.00pm Tuesday 30th May. On this sunny afternoon the outside tables were taken and so we opted for an inside table (most of these were were free) directly opposite the counter. Being in a rush for a planned meeting, we ordered what we hoped would be a quick to heat up Cornish pasty and a chicken and mushroom pie plus a coffee each. As we sat waiting for our order a young woman came through a back door with a floor cleaner that sprayed cleaning fluid into the air. Struggling to breathe I tried to attract the attention of anyone who could stop the spray. Whatever the commercial cleaner used it caused an asthma attack, such as I have never had before. The coughing was so bad my throat hurt for a full four days afterwards. Eventually the waitress behind the counter realised that I was trying to tell her that the spray was causing me intense distress. She then asked the younger woman to turn the cleaning machine off. My husband and I saw that a table outside had been evacuated and made our way to it. The coughing continued and I wished for the drink I'd ordered. It came after a considerable wait and a reminder. We continued to wait for our pies, eventually asking whether they had been forgotten. The 'chicken and mushroom' pie arrived but not the Cornish pasty, I had almost finished my pie when my husband asked about his Cornish pasty. We were told it took longer to heat than my pie. Both the pie and the pasty were particularly small. I only found sauce; no chicken or mushroom in mine. My husband described his as nondescript. The coffees were very good. Please note that noone apologised for the spraying of commercial cleaning liquid around customers. In fact the staff were very sullen. It is not only food that customers might be adversely affected by but also chemicals in cleaning substances. Despite the coffee I would never visit this café again. I generally give reviews when I'm really pleased with the service that I have received thus they are very positive reviews. However, my experience here was so bad I had to let it be known that I do not recommend this café. Oh and the cost was way above what you would expect...
Read moreHonestly love this place with the vibe it brings and the coffee is always great but my visit today was ruined by the staff. Sat at a table opposite the counter and the entire time watched as the same waitress shouted ‘excuse me’ every-time she needed to pass the queue and went back and forth about 50 times. It was very uncomfortable to watch and kept interrupting us. If the system isn’t working, it should be reviewed because it gives no peace to the tables nearby. Also I hate to single out the individual but the waitress with a black pony tail spoke to me so incredibly rudely it has genuinely put me off. I’ve worked in hospitality in a busy tourist season for 10+ years, I know how hectic it can get but there is no excuse for treating and talking to people with such attitude and tone that it ruins their experience. Such a shame because I love the food and atmosphere...
Read moreCafe Notos was 'the find' of our holiday. Went 3 times in total (twice for coffee, once for Breakfast) and Cafe Notos was brilliant on all occasions. We took our dog (Golden Retriever) on 2 of these trips and the cafe is very dog-friendly. Plenty of space under & around tables for the dog to chill out whilst we enjoyed the DELICIOUS food & coffee on offer. Plenty of indoor seating on offer with several tables outside. There are various options for those with 'dietary requirements', food was fresh and the cakes came from 'local' bakeries. Alongside alternative milks, the 'normal' milk used in the hot drinks is from an 'ethical' supplier - major win for the cafe. There is also a small (but very well-stocked) gift shop at the back of the cafe - selling gifts, crafts, etc, from 'local' artists. All the staff were very friendly. We will be going back...
