Lenny Henry has let the side down with this one. I'm quite surprised to read so many good reviews. I'm not a fussy person at all but the experience we had was terrible. I've only just stayed at another Premier Inn up in Newport near Telford a week ago and that was miles better. Where do I start... Booked a family room online. Asked if we wanted breakfast when booking and declined. On arrival we were asked again if we wanted breakfast. We said no thanks. We were then asked a third time by the same person if we were sure if we didn't want breakfast!? NO I DONT WANT TO ORDER BREAKFAST! Being mildly intelligent 40 year old adults I think we are capable of knowing if we do or do not want breakfast thank you and do not need to be asked three times. On entering the room there was a slight smell of what I can only describe as twosies. Outside there was a drain cover not far from the window. The family room size was a joke. Four of us in the room and with the beds made up there was no room to move. Only one chair and no sofa between four of us. No air conditioning and with four sleeping in a tiny room had to open window as so stuffy. Could only hear road noise all night. The family bathroom was just a shower. Young children don't shower. So far not able to wash, not able to sit down, not able to breathe through my nose or sniff something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. It gets worse... So the room being so small meant that the adult bed had no leg room to get into or out of the bed. I have prehiperal neuropathy, nerve damage to my leg. Had to throw myself into bed then forward roll myself to get out. Worse still the bed was pushed over to make room for the other two beds meaning my head was directly touching the light switches when lying on my pillow so every few minutes I accidently turned on the lights. Zero sleep for me. Good night guaranteed? Where is the guarantee Lenny? Gets even worse. It seems the electrics are dodgy in the room. The light switches are loose and broken. The one by my head and also the other side was flickering and buzzing. Consistency. How come for cheaper than this room I can stay in another Premier inn in and have a totally different and better experience? The other booking I got Aircon, room twice the size, bath and shower etc.? Found out the shower is for Suffolk sized people, ie short. I'm less than 6ft and my head pretty much touched the top of the shower head so had to bend my legs to wash. Didn't bother in the end. Go to reception in the morning to complain and guess what? No one there, just a box to post back your door card. I would like a refund. Guess that's never going to happen. Unlucky for some, including me. The only good thing here is the location as you can drive away very quickly and never come back. A prison room has better facilities. Would I stay here or recommend? No way. Horrible experience and couldn't have...
Read moreWas genuinely pleased to read so many reviews praising the friendliness and attentiveness of the team who work here. I've stayed in many a Premier Inn, but the welcome and service we received during our stay was above and beyond what I've experienced before.
Me, my two sons and nephew were staying for a football match. The girls on reception took an interest in the reason for our stay and the lads really enjoyed the light hearted banter about the upcoming match. We arrived before check in but the lady on reception insisted we bring our bags in and that they would place them in our room as soon as it was available.
We arrived back at the hotel at around 8.15pm and the young lady who was on reception noted that the lads would be cold having been to the match for the past few hours and made them all a hot chocolate to take back to the room.
Next morning the lady running the restaurant for breakfast was also lovely, making sure the boys had everything they needed for breakfast, and asking whether they'd enjoyed the football (we'd got beat but still had a great trip). All members of staff engaged in conversation before we left and offered a warm farewell. Even the kids noticed and commented how friendly everyone was.
The team are a credit to the Premier Inn brand, a great bunch of people who take genuine pride and enjoyment in looking after their guests. Hope to...
Read moreThe Hotel needs updating..... Rooms are'nt very good .....TV is in an odd place so the person on the left of the bed can't see the screen very well ..... No air-con in room and bathroom was quite outdated ( Dirty tile grout and sealant needed replacing ) The shower made me laugh ..... I am 6ft tall...... And the shower head is fixed..... So when I stepped in.... The shower head was at my eye level . . Made me think..... Guess that most guests are only 5ft tall.... LOL ! ..... Could'nt use it as have a compressed disc in my lower back which does'nt allow me to bend for long.... Also noticed that people without disabled badges were parking in disabled only parking spaces . . Lauren was lovely and other staff were all polite and friendly.... Pub next to the Hotel is expensive for food..... so went to The Chestnut tree farm (5 mins drive) and had an excellent carvery for less than £10 . . . . Recommend other's try it .... One other thing to remember . . Domino's Pizza - Ipswich - Bramford Road won't deliver to the Hotel . . Even though it's only...
