Holiday Inn Ipswich is a good hotel in a good spacious location with easy access to major dual carriageways (A12, A14). Nearby is a range of large retailers, supermarkets, restaurants, and a petrol station, which is handy for any traveller. About 2 miles away is the Ipswich Town Centre offering even more facilities.
We stayed in a STANDARD family room at the Holiday Inn which had a standard size double bed, as well as a sofa bed and small armchair. The room also included a 32" TV, storage cupboards, a wardrobe, a kettle with tea & coffee and a good air-conditioning system. The bed was very comfortable, making it difficult to get up for breakfast!!! The room had some minor decoration (damp) defects in one corner, but overall the room was nice.
The bathroom offered a large walk-in shower, which seems to be a standard used in many Holiday Inn hotels. However, the design of the shower is BAD as the glass screen is not wide enough to retain the water properly, resulting in a lot of water pouring onto the bathroom floor causing damage. Although the shower was a good size, the bathroom was extremely cramped with little floorspace. This was unusual for a Holiday Inn as they are often spacious. Closing the bathroom door was difficult unless you stood in a corner or climbed over the toilet! The bathroom offered everything a person would need, but more frequent maintenance inspections are needed as I noticed numerous faults. These were:
Body wash, hair conditioner, and hand wash were supplied in the bathroom. This was useful if you forgot to bring your own. However, the scents (Kale and Parsley) were an odd choice in my opinion, as who wants to end up smelling like a cabbage or herb after a shower!
Our room was booked with breakfasts included. The breakfast area was very nice, clean, and had a good range of hot and continental breakfasts. The food was well cooked, good quality and had a nice flavour. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Finally, the hotel offered a gym and swimming pool for fitness finatics! However, as the hotel had extremely long corridors, 2 floors and no lifts I did not require these! I left the hotel looking like an Olympian 😂 The carpark for this hotel was FREE and huge, so no battling for a parking space. This is how "ALL" hotels should be!!!
A good hotel, well...
Read moreThe only thing you can say for? Thank you, this is how the staff works, no matter what and how people will help you and always come to the rescue. Also very good service from people who choose to clean and wash. Not all hotels have this, but here it is very noticeable, especially since I travel often, and I always see what and where it works. In this case, they work here quite professionally in this regard, as far as food is concerned, of course, the one who prepared the dish for us, and as I understand it, this is probably more for the British, But as a European, I didn’t like the food, because there was so much fatty and a lot of food The food that was most likely used was frozen or one that was prepared a day or two in advance. As for cleanliness in a room like a jacuzzi pool, that's one thing, but if you look, when you're sitting in the jacuzzi, there's a ventilation shaft right above your head, and right on your head. This is a mine. Just dirty. As I understand it, no one has ever washed it for a long time, all this dirt and dust goes straight to your head, just when bleach and hot water along with all this are quite good. It turns out that as for the same rooms, where you are already in the shower, then there is also a ventilation shaft, which also has not been cleaned for quite a long time, so it is worth paying attention to. It is also unclear why in the hall where the sauna and jacuzzi are located. Why doesn’t the shower work when you approach it, it’s also quite creepy there. Also opposite the pool there is a room with large glass windows. They, too, are all either stained or stained. Well, that is, it’s unpleasant. I pay attention to everything quite carefully, what is good and what is bad, so I think that whoever is responsible for this should also pay attention to this, including the gardener, who should pay attention to the plants and trees that are on your territory. They are not quite professional. This means that many trees need to be cleaned in order for them to grow correctly or to the correct size and standard there are a lot of dead branches and essentially down on the lawns. There’s just a lot of garbage that if someone throws it and the trigger is triggered, it’ll just catch fire. I hope you pay attention to this. I hope that I will come again specifically to make sure of this. I also don’t understand why the fitness center, where there is a young man who sits with some kind of equipment so that, as I understand it, determine how clean water. Is there enough bleach or does it meet the standards? Why is this suitcase in an open space and everyone can see it and as far as I understand. This should be closed and located in a special room, and not at the reception, when the client comes to go for a swim in the pool or sauna. Directly opposite you is a suitcase with some kind of chemical equipment. I think this is wrong and this...

I booked 1 room for 2 adults and 2 children , on arrival there was complaints from people so we waited awhile to check in , on check in we was told the sofa bed was broken I'm our room and the other rooms were for 2 adults 1 child.. this wasn't an option as we have a 12 and 14 year old , she then told us after a while of back and forth with the duty manager that we had to have two rooms , which was ok with us although not ideal as the rooms were not together but on the same floor she then charged us 150.00 pounds and we went to our rooms. The children's room absolutely smelt of smoke we had to open all the windows and air it out still I didn't complain ... we then went out the the day on Saturday and was caught in heavy rain on our return we was all soaked and freezing to find we was locked out of our rooms my husband returned to reception and she the same woman (Paula) who said we wasn't allowed back in our rooms until we paid for the second night !!!!!!! She had not charged the second night I thought this was because if the whole mess up that wasn't created by us !! So he explained we needed to change as we are all wet etc she agreed to unlock the key cards , back to our 2 rooms to find she only unlocked the main room bot the children's, who were still wet and freezing we then went to reception together and she said to me you haven't paid I Need payment , I explained it wasn't our fault it was her mistake and told her I didn't appreciate being summoned down to her and us all being locked from the rooms , she's said we'll I need payment , she was extremely abrupt and rude basically making it my fault , in front of other guests I told her she should of apologised and said she didn't take full payment during everyone complaining yesterday and for locking us out of our rooms , she said we'll no don't you think a free room was apology enough !!!!! Disgusting customer service from a so called manager I asked for the complaints number she said everything is on cctv she simply didn't care , a staff member who had seen and heard the whole thing came up to me and apologies for Paula's behaviour and said they had had past problems with her and it was unacceptable and then gave us free drinks , I do not appreciate being treated in this way for a situation that was not my fault at all .. I booked 1 room for my husband and children the whole thing was an inconvenience, I want my 89 pounds refunded.
Very rude woman for someone who's supposed to be some level of manager...
