I’ve often stayed with Premier Inn and usually found them to be of a good standard. Unfortunately this one let them down. There was a queue for reception when we arrived. There was one member of staff who was dealing with a walk-in and everyone else had pre booked and had to wait. We’d had a long drive and had to wait half an hour and once we were at the counter it took about 3 minutes. There were two buildings and we were given a room in the further one which felt cold and empty. The room was clean and basic but we had only been left one set of towels. There was a button to press to contact reception. However despite repeated attempts, no one answered it. The free Wifi didn’t work from the get go. There was no signal, no 3 4 or 5G at all and no phone signal in the building either. We called in at reception on the way to dinner in the restaurant, and were advised that there was nothing they could do, there was just a very weak signal. The receptionist was very sweet and after suggesting we purchase the Ultimate WiFi for an additional sum, offered us a free upgrade for this. That did take the wind out of our sails, but when I tried it that didn’t work either! It was a good job I hadn’t paid extra because I would have been furious. The room was cold and there was no info on how to use the heating which came on when I pressed random buttons but soon went off again. We had a good dinner with the family in the attached restaurant and called into reception on the way back for an update on the towels. The receptionist said she had not taken them to the room, as she didn’t have our permission, but when we got there the TV was on which was curious as we had definitely not put it on. I had prebooked breakfast in the restaurant so in the morning we went there just before 9am. We were welcomed and advised to select a table then help ourselves from the ‘hot’ buffet. The bacon was cold, the sausages were burnt, the black pudding was soggy, the eggs were greasy and hard, mushrooms had spilled into the beans. The milk had run out in the coffee machine - even though at that point there was no one else in the restaurant when we had arrived. It was a complete disappointment. We have family nearby there, and the restaurant has an indoor play area for the grandchildren. So we will possibly return to the restaurant, but certainly not to the hotel. Just to add to add insult to injury on 20/1/24 I received a Parking Charge Notice for parking in the hotel car park! I entered my registration number on the form where requested but this information wasn’t transferred to the parking company ! Probably because of the absolute rubbish...
Read moreWell there were a few positives about this hotel. Comfy beds as always with premier inn and everything you need for a one night stay. However, I did not sleep a wink. The temperature in the room was 29 degrees Celsius according to the thermostat on the wall. There were no heaters on and it was a cloudy day around 20c outside. I requested a fan to put in the room as there is no air conditioning at this hotel as stated on the website. The fan hardly worked and we could feel little or no current of air. It was also thick with dust. I went to reception to ask for a different fan and was told that there were some in the office but I couldn't have one as they hadn't been PAT tested. I was advised to run the shower on cold all night. The sheets on our bed and the pillows were soaked with sweat. We had to get ready for a wedding the next morning and after a cold shower, the sweat started to flow again. Our wedding clothes were wet with sweat 5 minutes after putting them on. There was no apparent reason for the room to be so hot. This is an older Premier Inn and is in serious need of upgrade. Paint is flaking off the walls in the bathroom and the carpets are dirty. If you need a Premier Inn in this area, I'd advise you to look at a different one. Not happy and not impressed by a brand that I...
Read moreDisappointing Early Departure at Premier Inn Sittingbourne
My recent overnight stay at the Premier Inn Sittingbourne in early May was unfortunately marred by an unwelcome eagerness to usher guests out. While the room itself was a good size and clean, the overall experience felt rushed and intrusive.
I had opted to pay an additional £15 for an earlier check-in, allowing me into the room an hour and a half before the standard time. This seemed to imply a degree of flexibility, yet the following morning told a different story. Despite check-out being at a reasonable midday, I was disturbed twice by housekeeping staff knocking loudly on my door in the early morning. The second instance was particularly disruptive, as they let themselves into the room without waiting for a response.
This aggressive approach to turning over rooms so far in advance of the official check-out time created a feeling of being pushed out. It was a far from relaxing experience and left me feeling like the hotel was more concerned with efficiency than guest comfort. For a hotel stay, particularly one where an early check-in was paid for, this kind of pressure to depart is simply...
