Horrible experience. |On check in the receptionist was short-tempered and made me feel like i was an inconvenience. She raced through the check-in process and when asked a question, her tone was very dismissive, which wasn't a good start.|Then upon arrival at my room, i didn't notice at the time but it wasn't a 'Premier Inn' room, and it certainly wasnt what is shown the images. No Premier Inn branded bedding, or curtains. The room looked like a cheap guest house. The bedroom and bathroom are in need of a refurb as they looked very dated and worn.||Dinner at the brewers Fayre was awful, it took forever waiting to be seated as they were understaffed and then when i was the table was dirty and sticky. The food didn't improve things, the chicken tenders were good but there was no salad or garnish so just a sea of beige. The fish and chips arrived and there was a smell of silage. I dont think it was from the meal it could have been the carpet, or the table next to me biut that didn't make for an enjoyable meal. The fish had been cooked before, then re-heated as the batter was all soggy and not crispy as if it had been freshly cooked. The chips had and the garden peas were all overcooked and mushy which was annoying as i opted for garden peas and not mushy peas.||Terrible nights sleep as the mattress and pillows were really uncomfortable, then 5am im woken to banging and crashing followed by revving engines. i looked out my bedroom window and see two vans being loaded up with overnight bags and guys in hi-vis jackets chatting loudly to each other. So that was me awake.. cheers...||Breakfast was good, and the staff were really friendly and attentive so at least that helped improve my day before the long drive home.||On checkout the receptionist asked if everything had been ok with my stay and i told her it wasn't, as i'd had an awful nights sleep and got woken up at 5am by two vans revving their engines and banging and crashing out the front of the hotel and she replied " Oh there's nothing i can do about that" as she got up disappeared out the back.... |So would i stay here again, maybe. If you refurb the hotel and Brewers Fayre and sack the management as they are seriously neglecting things here. This is the worst Premier Inn i have ever stayed in. With Premier Inn, you are led to believe that things are uniform, with premium bedding, premium bathrooms and a premium stay. |I chose this site rather than cheaper independent hotels for just that and i feel really let down. The reception team are a joke, what i want to say to them is "If you don't like the job, leave... and go get one you enjoy as this clearly isn't the job for you and you're making it known to...
ย ย ย Read moreWe've stayed at this hotel a couple of times a year for over two decades, and other Premier Inns 3 or 4 times a year. It has always been our go-to chain for good, clean rooms, and a very comfortable night's sleep.
How things have changed! Our most recent visit encompassed everything about how the chain is on a downward slope.
Our check-in took 45 minutes. The customer in front of us had booked a room and at the request of the hotel happily agreed earlier in the day to downgrade from a family room to a double room as there were only two of them. They had copy of email confirmation and evidence of ore-payment. Unfortunately the hotel system cancelled their original booking and rebook it at an extra ยฃ60 cost.
The receptionist defaulted to "the computer says "no"". Under pressure she phoned her boss who told her to tell the customer to pay and claim it back. Good luck with that. Bizarrely for a hotel chain their central booking centre had closed at 5.00pm. Three serious fault lines here:
The receptionist had obviously received no training on how to override their system The supervisor had no interest in supporting her Worst of all she had no empowerment to resolve to the customer's advantage even though there was clear evidence they were right
Anyway they were eventually given a key and in the end a more experienced member of staff arrived at 7.00 pm and sorted it.
What followed was a shabby room not decorated for ages, no usb ports, beloved Hypnos beds replaced with inferior Silentnight, and the worst breakfast experience ever.
This chain shows all the signs of underinvestment in people and assets and a 180ยฐ deterioration in customer service. Don't be surprised if they are...
ย ย ย Read moreI stay at Premier Inn's regularly when visiting family and this is the wort experience at any Premier Inn yet. I was disgusted on this trip of the quality of my stay. To begin with when we arrived room essentials had forgotten to be provided - Towels, Pillows, Tea Coffee etc. This was resolved however the housekeeper didn't seem thrilled to be providing these items. To further this on closer inspection of the bedding there appeared to be multiple stains and marks all over the duvet and sheets. This is where the problems continue to get worse. On the ceiling of this room there appeared to be large patches of black mould which when reported we were told the message would be passed on to housekeeping for them to deal with. However on return to the room after housekeeping had been nothing had been done about any of the incident mentioned above. We discovered during the stay that the extractor in the bathroom didn't work which would have been the cause of this black mould build up we believe. Finally we noticed on the wall where the radiator sat - Large char lines which didn't give us much confidence in the safety of the system during the stay so it remained of during the period. I shall not be staying at this Premier Inn again and hope that someone sorts this situation out with the...
