I have stayed at many hotels over the years and you can always find things that you feel could be better and this is also true for the Crow Wood. For example, we would have liked a set of drawers in our bedroom. The TV was strangely and annoyingly off centre. The walk to the Spa would be miserable in the rain and I didn't like the way the path crosses the road from the stables, I feel there's an accident waiting to happen. The breakfast tables could have cleared a little quicker, and room service missed a couple of minor things. The food isn't cheap but no surprise there. No local ales in the bars. One lift wasn't working. Rather odd access arrangements to the Spa. I didn't like the depressing background music in Wilfred's at breakfast. However the plus points totally outweigh any negatives. Our room was brand new, spotless and comfortable. The food at breakfast and also dinner at Bertram's was superb, The capacious Spa is by far the best we have visited - faultless. The service, particularly the front desk, was extremely friendly and if you did need anything it was sorted quickly and courteously. Even more impressive as there were a few new starters. Rural setting with good road connections and plenty of parking. A second visit and a different room, with a bit more storage space, not that we really needed it. Everything was in faultless order and we had an excellent overnight stay. The cooked buffet breakfast was one of the best we have had. Even the dreaded DIY toaster worked perfectly. The only negative for us was that the temperature of the pool was on the cool side, other and obviously more hardy souls didn't seem to have a problem though. A further visit and the breakfast wasn't quite as good as the last time. Gone were the muffins and I suggest there could be more choice of cold offerings. No issues with the room although the First Floor rooms facing the gardens don't have a great view. They are very clean and tidy, only niggle was the pressure of the shower which wasn't great. Unfortunately I noticed they are still using single use plastics. The pool area is beginning to show it's age although it's not that old. If needed there are towels at the reception for a free but they don't advertise it. The signage and information could be improved. The staff are as good as ever and so is the food. Two restaurants on hand, Wilfred's is in the hotel, and a revamped Bertram's within the Spa. The latter was referred to as fine dining by one member of the staff, by this I think he was referring to the fact that they don't allow children. The menus and prices are pretty much the same at both. We enjoyed Wilfred's and was well looked after by the excellent Louis. Drinks wise they cover most based but there's only a couple of bottled ales, I would have preferred some Moorhouse's, or the...

Now for Paige... Crow Wood have somehow managed to employ an actual, real - life angel to plan their weddings. We challenge anyone out there to find a more dedicated, hard-working, friendly, caring and genuine all-round incredible human to plan their wedding day. From the day we first met with Paige, we were greeted by her beaming smile and open arms. From that very first meeting, we knew that she just got us. She knew our vision, supported it whole-heartedly and offered advice and guidance on a plethora of suppliers. Her knowledge of the wedding world is extensive and admirable. We would tell her an idea and she would just pluck names off the top of her head, find their business page online and write it down for us, all within a matter of seconds. This maintained throughout the 15 months of planning. With countless messages and emails back and forth, with the lovely Ella picking up any of our requests in Paige's absence, the support was world-class. Not only was the practical support there in an abundance, but with her years of experience, Paige knows all too well how stressful planning a wedding can be. We can honestly say that her emotional support and understanding throughout the planning process provided us with the comfort and security to know that everything will be ok. No request was too big, no question was too silly, every single contact was met with acceptance and for that we just can't thank you enough. As I (the bride) woke up on the morning of my wedding (in the apartment- highly recommended!), one of my first thoughts was "when will I see Paige?". I knew that from the moment I saw her, all of my stresses and worries would just vanish. And they did! She gave me the tightest squeeze and from that moment, I just knew that I had absolutely nothing else to worry about and that, just as we felt from our very first meeting with her, she had us.
The day itself ran so smoothly. It was seamless from start to finish. Didier and the wonderful team were incredibly attentive to all of our and our guests' requests and ensured that the day was nothing but perfect. With many of our guests already being married, we were honoured and elated to hear so many of them say that it was the best wedding they have ever been to! We used the incredibly talented Alex Birtwell for our entertainment and well, he just needs a whole review to himself and his band so we won't gush too much right now. All that we will say is BOOK HIM!
Crow Wood really is a superb venue. Not only for weddings, but even just for a little getaway or bite to eat. It's a place that we will always hold dear to us and with the fair pricing throughout and down to earth atmosphere, we will be sure to visit regularly and remember our...
Read moreMyself and my partner booked a stay from 23rd - 26th September 2020, with the package that included the bottle of prosecco in the room daily. We had also booked around £1500 worth of Spa treatments over the three days.
On the first day we arrived a little later to the Spa due to unforeseen circumstances, I reasonably explained that as we had booked a sizeable amount of treatments if we were able to put the day spa pass (£40 each) back into more treatments, as opposed to the money just going to waste as we had our dinner booked, and assumed the Spa would be closed by the time we were finished. Unfortunately, the reception staff didn't appear interested to help find a reasonable solution, even a suggestion from them that we could have had our dinner and returned to the spa as it would still be open could have been enough. I don't want to be unreasonable, and understand spaces are limited for the Spa, but a little more empathy from the staff would have been nice, this part could be mainly excusable on our part.
The second day, we enjoyed the Spa and were given our lockers to store our clothing. As we were staying for a few nights, we had paperwork given to us with this, however it didn't say that this locker was only for the day (we did check, but correct me if I'm wrong) - so my partner kept her swim wear overnight ready for use the next day. To our disappointment, it had been cleared away - and lost? Instead of trying to help us they just suggested "buy their flip flops" after losing ours. Later in the day, they eventually found her items and returned it to us.
Each day, other than the first, we didn't have the prosecco in the room as advertised and had to call down to reception for it, and some days having to wait a good while for it to appear. I asked at reception if it was our duty to call for it to be sent, but they said it wasn't.
With the issues that had arised, we decided to shorten our stay and leave a day early, it wasn't the relaxing experience we had hoped for. We settled up and left the hotel. Unfortunately, we were then charged an extra £479 (for no apparent reason?) from the hotel which I couldn't figure out. I then reached out via email, in which their team accepted responsibility that it shouldn't have ever been taken.
We signed up, and spent a good deal of money to have a relaxing few days away from our businesses. With the ratings these guys had in the area, we were thoroughly disappointed and frustrated because it was the opposite of what we...
