Having been to this spa and others in the region, this to me has the finer edge. The spa on entry is very impressive and relaxed ambience is immediately sensed. Staff are immaculately dressed friendly and professional on arrival a guided tour description is given if required. Robes are provided post covid you bring your own flip flops to wear around the spa a towel is also available in your own storage locker, changing room toilets and showers are clean and shampoo/ body wash conditioner is available for use. The spa is beautiful a whirlpool in the centre with thermal journey pods around the outskirts these rooms are not huge but house comfortably 8 people, there is a beautifully relaxing large serenity pool which is a quiet zone for a little nap or quiet read, I love the little side light for your reading but felt the beds uncomfortable for a relaxation room, maybe beanbag beds or at least sunlounger cushions on them would enhance the comfort and relaxation. The outside spa facilities are great if the weather is good its like a mini holiday with 4 large outdoor whirlpools and lots of sunloungers, with the terraces covered yet able to be exposed if the sun comes out this area has been very well thought through to cater for our northern weather, outside is a wonderful bar serving cocktails and alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, as well as a delicious range of tapas (which we have eaten in the past and not been disappointed) again great friendly staff. We chose this visit to eat in the resturant upstairs Bertrams, there is a great range of absolutely fantastic delicious well presented food on offer, from light bites, sandwiches and nibbles to a full 3 course meal should you wish which is also available in the evening the staff are super friendly and extremely attentive again having eaten here before I would certainly recommend. The treatment spa is situated on the same floor and offers a wide range of beauty and complementary therapies, being a teacher trainer in this area and natural therapist myself I always have a keen eye on this part of any spa. Presentation, friendliness and authenticity in providing a relaxing thorough expert treatment is key and I think for a spa it does reach that, I have often been to spas where the staff reflect little standardisation or attention to detail during treatment who seem just to get through the routine of the treatment but here you can get a real sense of professionalism and dedication to the customer and the treatment they are performing. An area is dedicated to relax before and after with waters available. Overall if you enjoy a spa trip it is well worth a visit also can tie in an overnight stay with Crow Wood hotel situated on site to really get a sense of full relaxation, luxury and high quality service and dining I would highly recommend the...
Read moreThe spa facility’s and treatments were good. The place is let down by breakfast restaurant staff. Our treatment during breakfast was absolutely appalling and any relaxation we had was soon lost. We arrived for breakfast at around 9 am, a table of two ladies were seated just after us and their order was taken just before ours, this annoyed us a little bit as the restaurant was dead so it wasn’t hard to remember who you had seated first and we put our menus down and were ready to order before they did. We didnt think any more of it as they then took our order. Their breakfasts arrived they ate them and ours had not arrived. After around 25-30 mins a table of 6 people came in and placed their order. We then asked a waiter if he could check on our food, he came back to us and said there is the table of 6 before ours then they will brings out ours, when we obviously said we were unhappy with this he said it’s because they are having vegetarian so it is faster to do and ours is in the oven. It had now been about 45 mins, I ordered eggs on toast and a cooked breakfast for my partner. They then walked out with their breakfasts!. We were quite sure that they did not have a piece of bacon and sausage in the oven for 45 mins! Ours obviously still had not been started. To be told we had to wait because my partner is not a vegetarian is absolutely appalling. The two ladies that came in just after us did not get vegetarian breakfasts. We spoke to the manageress who informed us she had been told we only waited 17 mins and would we like a smoothie to take away instead! That was literally it. We spoke to another gentleman who I think was the duty manager who was nice and more understanding, he took our breakfast that we didn’t have and £30 from the bill. We have since been contacted by the first manager we spoke to who informed us that our order had not gone through to the kitchen and with it being a quiet breakfast and full staff that this should not have happened so basically the waiter lied to us (obviously we knew he had anyway). This was my 40th birthday breakfast and it has left us quite upset all day. We don’t like complaining, we just wanted to relax. We spent over £400 on this package so obviously £30 being taken off hasn’t really made up for the fact we were treated terribly and lied to. 😡Except for that it is nice, the breakfast staff definitely need changing as they are giving a bad name to a good business and dragging the...
Read moreI booked for my husband and I to spend our 10 year anniversary here. I booked over the phone, booking an overnight stay, breakfast and dinner and a treatment each. No one mentioned that the spa was a one day entrance, I paid over the phone and was told there was no cancellation, which I was fine with. We arrived mid afternoon. upon arrival the spa staff were very quick to upsell us an extra mud treatment and lunch and cocktail packages. which we agreed to pay extra for. our first day was then packed with a treatment each (annoyingly only available at different times ) the mud treatment and lunch outside on the terrace. We therefore had a short time to have a quick dip in the jacuzzi before we had to get ready for our dinner reservation. We didnt have time to visit all the different outside tubs and steam rooms etc, but were happy to do these the next day. The room was very small, hard pillows, and a lumpy duvet, not too luxurious, but was ok. We went down for breakfast at 9:30, at which point they had run out of croissants, despite being open for another hour at least. The served cooked breakfast was nice, but small, but there wasn't anything else to eat other than cereals and a soggy looking fruit salad. We then handed our bedroom key in and went to the spa to spend a couple of hours before we left to be back in time to collect our kids from school. My husband went in no problem, but I was stopped to check my reservation. I happily shared my name. At which point I was told I had only had the spa for one day. At no point was it suggested that we move some of our plans to the next day to make the most of the spa on day one, because you can do your treatments the next day. I was so upset. We had spend nearly £500 on the one day and average night sleep. Had this been made clear upon booking we would have come as a day visit and gone home. The manager was unhelpful and really rather rude. She was happy for us to stay if we paid an extra £60, which was just insult to the injury. Had this been explained upon booking we may have wished to add this, or arranged the treatments accordingly or arrived early on the day of arrival. What a horrible way to treat customers especially on such a special occasion. for the sake of letting us stay for an hour or so, when the spa was empty, as people don't really arrive until later on in the day, I thought it...
