We booked the red hall with Warren the manager for 1 nights stay due to my nieces wedding being held there..we booked two rooms 2/3 months in advance We confirmed the two rooms on Thursday for a Saturday night stay but when we arrived at 3.30pm Saturday we were told we only had 1 room booked my mum and auntie who had arrived before us had been checked-in to it and the hotel was fully booked. We were told they would find us a room at a nearby alternative hotel which we agreed.. We Went back to the reception at 5pm after the wedding ceremony only to be told they could not find us a room anywhere local and we would need to wait until 7pm as they were waiting on 9 other bookings to check-in .. if one didn't then we could have a room. ("HELLO" we are on site and these other bookings aren't)
We Went back to reception at 7pm to be told to wait again as only one more booking left to check-in. We Went back at 8.30pm and was told they have no rooms and they can't find us one local. But they would pay for a taxi home and a return in the morning so we could collect our car. Obviously this was a far cheaper option than a room at a alternative hotel. So after 5 hours of waiting and wondering where we were going to sleep we had no alternative but to go home at daft o'clock with a fast asleep 4yr old We were not be able to spend the night and breakfast with our whole family Out of interest I called around the local hotels the next day and found they were not full. Red hall also offered us a free family meal voucher by way of apology but we have never received one and I have chased it up twice but no phone calls back from anyone and not even an apology off Warren the manager himself after his mistake. Yes, I do understand that these things happen but the hotel had 5 hrs to sort this mess out and as I said we confirmed 2 days early and we were also on site before 9 other bookings so why was it our room that wasn't available. In my opinion it is extremely poor to make a family wait 5 hrs whilst 9 other bookings check-in and the communication afterwards was and is absolutely shocking . Big thanks for...
Read moreRoom quite small with no drawers and only hanging space 🤔 Spotlessly clean however. Very comfy bed and pillows. The shower whilst powerful is too strong for the tray and screen and unless you angle the shower head accordingly and reduce the water flow it would flood the bathroom. Ridiculous tea/coffee making facilities which take up far too much precious space and offer nothing exciting other than the single sachet of ground coffee. We ate in the on-site restaurant Oscars last night and would have been better getting fish and chips locally somewhere. My steak and Guinness pie hadn't seen a drop of the dark stuff, or not that you'd notice the meat was do overcooked and there was no sauce inside at all. That's once you'd managed to break through the so-called shortcrust pastry, my knife actually bounced off the top. The size of the chips which accompanied the meal were like fence posts, huge, pale, fried, potatoes, not really chips. But the onion rings were delicious. Rib eye steak was also ordered, medium rare......it came rare. This steak had never been a rib and certainly didn't have an eye! It was so thin it was like a minute steak. Fries were good though. As for breakfast, a shabby rasher of bacon, single sausage, black pudding, half an uncooked tomato, a lukewarm pot of baked beans and a poached egg that could have been cooked better at home. We should have been down earlier to breakfast as the cold buffet was clearly depleted. Our waitress was lovely and offered us fresh pots of tea to have with our toast. We went out for a couple of hours but our room hadn't been serviced so I asked if it could be done when we went out later and was told that there was no possibility of that as they finished work at 2. So asked for it doing now, that was fine but room wasn't vacuumed and bathroom floor wasn't washed! Our room has lovely countryside views, but it's noisy. From arrival the staff have been extremely helpful, friendly and approachable,...
Read moreMy name is Dave Jones, I am a professional Wedding DJ and I have played at the Red Hall hotel on numerous occasions., so I suppose I’m writing this review without ever being an actual guest. From my prospective, this venue is easy to access for heavy equipment, which speeds up my setup times, and the main function room boasts a decent in house PA system with a radio microphone for the necessary announcements and speeches if you choose this place for you wedding, plus there is a plug in AV facilities for video and picture presentation or video DJ’s or to simply plug in your ipad so you can create your own wedding breakfast playlist. The main function room is a slightly odd ‘L’ shape, so it’s really important for your DJ, band or singer to use a high standard of professional speakers that can project and disperse audio around the room evenly and effectively. All the staff at this hotel are very attentive, professional and friendly, plus the whole hotel is kept spotless and managed extremely well. The main function room is well away from the hotel rooms which is an important factor and a great bonus, I have been to other hotels in the past who insist on keeping the music very low as guest have complained about being able top hear the music. Naturally, this can be a party pooper and is on the same par as the pesky sound limiters. Thankfully, maintaining reasonable volume has never been an issue at the Red Hall Hotel. To top it all, the food at this hotel is great! In fact, the hotel even has a restaurant, which is on my list of places to visit and experience when I have some spare leisure time and I am looking forward to staying here one night too, the Red Hall Hotel gets the thumbs...
