Visited here for the first time for New Year celebrations. Ive stayed in Premier Inns before and so to be transparent I do have a certain level of expectation. Check in was easy & straightforward. Finding the room was a bit of a maze of corridors and elevators and more corridors which was a bit of an alternative set up and not overly convenient if you have any mobility issues. Thankfully I don't. I did experience an issue with the manager on night duty who was very rude and hostile when they came to ask us to turn our music down. Bare in mind it was New Years eve night and im not inconsiderate by any means we were playing music as background noise while enjoying the celebrations.. but this manager actually came to the room and let himself in wothout even knocking and when i went to the door to answer it he was very rude and hostile. I might travel alot and be high up on the reviews on here.. but we were paying guests at this hotel, it wasn't cheap and he spoke down to me like we were trash. We stay in hotels on a regular basis and have never received treatment like this before even in the super low budget hotels. Also we had to extend a day due to travel plans changing but the system evidently hadnt updated and the cleaner let herself into our room without even knocking despite us having a do not disturb sign on the door. The other thing we discovered is the 'on site' restaurant is actually across the car park from the entrance and you have to eat in the restaurant as they dont offer any take out cartons or plates to take food back to the room as a staff member advised the hotel never resturns plates to the restaurant. When ive stayed on site at other premier inns the restaurant is usually downstairs and you can bring whatever you order back up to your room. There was no advisory about this before booking the hotel ie that the restaurant isnt in the building. And lastly the same night manager was very rude to my partner speaking down to him when he was on a video call with a relative to celebrate NYE and basically told him to turn the call off. On the positive notes the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was clean and a good temperature. It was also in a convenient location for Bicester village. The other staff we encountered were also friendly. But the room was smaller than what ive experienced at othe premiere inns and the room only had an armchair to sit in rather than a couch like was advertised in the pictures. Im sad to say we will never book this...
Read moreA two-night stay in Bicester was to the expected standard. Option of self-login display or the friendly receptionist; clean with the usual refreshments, entrance and lifts; room spacious and inviting; comfortable bed, etc.
We took a standard room so some features were beginning to look a little tired. For instance, the rain shower in the bathroom was very efficient except it was a little loose so you could not tilt it up. (At 6' 2", I could not stand directly under it!) A simple wrench was all it required.
The soap dispensers didn't work very well and are not easy to use with arthritic hands.
However, these minor details did not spoil our stay and I'm sure that they would have been fixed if we had brought it to the staff attention.
An excellent feature either side of the bed is a USB socket. Too often such features, if they exist, are near a desk. Free WiFi also was very much appreciated and more than adequate for general browsing. (An optional extra was a higher speed wifi connection which I would have appreciated if on business.)
Although adjacent to a busy road, once inside, you cannot hear the traffic. An efficient, quiet air conditioning system soon got the room to a comfortable temperature.
Enter your car registration number at reception and parking is free. A good menu at the Brewster restaurant - convenient but a short walk across the car park. They do provide room service.
Just across the road from Bicester Village shopping complex. But, beware. This part of Bicester is expanding rapidly so satnav directions are not necessarily up to date. Strangely, entrance to the hotel and shopping complex is via an off-road to a housing estate.
Overall, a good experience and definitely the place to stay if visiting the many...
Read moreI had been staying at this hotel when I was visiting family after a 9 hour drive from Scotland. When we arrived we checked in and got our room card, first impressions of the room were not impressive, windows were dirty, bathroom was very dirty and the A/C OR FAN DIDNT WORK. After having dinner, we went to see family and got back to the hotel at around 11pm.
12am: me and my family heard loud banging from the room above . We phoned reception to then be told we are being charged for the call. Reception wasn't helpful at all, cutting us off the phone because wedding guests had arrived in the lobby 'singing'.
2.30am. We had to phone reception a second time because of the banging. It kept going on until 3am.
NEXT DAY: Our family had come to brewers fayre to accompany us for breakfast. One of the reception staff had told us the night before, that we would have a table ready at 8.30am for 9 people. Much to our dissatisfaction and annoyance, we were informed by a very kind lady at Brewers fayre that the table hadn't in fact been booked for neither us nor our guests.
On approaching Premier Inn staff to complain, I was advised to TAKE MY FAMILY TO MCDONALDS. At which point I gave up complaining, as anything I said to the gentleman behind the desk was falling on dead ears.
May I also add that the lady at Brewers fayre informed me that this is a regular occurrence at the weekends, and the Brewers fayre staff were fed-up being placed in this position.
Word of advice, if you want a comfortable night's stay in a clean hotel, and the availability to eat, AVOID this premier Inn...
