We stayed here the night before visiting Dover Castle which is nearby. The hotel is easy to find with plenty of parking which is sheltered from view by lots of hedgerow seperating it from the dual carriageway leading from Dover itself to the A2 towards London. I don't know if the front of the hotel gets much noise from the road and night but when we unloaded the car in the early evening and loaded the car at 10am which was parked to the front we didn't notice any noise. The receptionist, Tia, was excellent. She has a friendly, welcoming manner and was clearly, actually interested in the reason for our stay rather than just having a throw away line. We were in room 36 which is on the first floor at the back of the hotel so doesn't get any noise from the dual carriageway at the front. We walked the 200m from the hotel, past the fuel station to the on site restaurant for dinner. In this case it is a Brewer's Fayre where other sites have a Beefeater attached. (Separately reviewed) Suitably fed we went back to our room for a peaceful, comfortable night. The room was a standard Premier Inn double room. It had the usual desk, TV, kettle etc. It was very clean and well maintained. It didn't have the rubbed in brown stain in the carpet from the door to the rear of the room that many hotels accomodating builders etc have on the outskirts of town despite there being a lot of trade vans in the car park. This is a testament to the hard work the cleaners must put in to keep the place in such good condition. Likewise the bathroom was spotless and everything worked properly. Sadly,I tend to spot the flaws easily. Force of habit but this room easily passed muster without and shortfalls. In the morning we hadbreakfasr at the restaurant which meant that we could spend the day at Dover Castle without needing to buy their exorbitantly priced food. I spotted and end of day, standard sized, cheese and onion pasty in the NAAFI Restaurant for £5.40. SHOCKER!!
I thoroughly recommend this Premier Inn, great condition, great staff and great location. It is just outside Dover which is a rather grotty port town. It is super handy for the port which is literally at the bottom of the dual carriageway outside should you want to venture on to the continent or stop over on your way back before a long onward journey.

Read moreWe booked a stay here rather than an Airbnb because we thought we would be guaranteed a good night's sleep at a Premier Inn. We were wrong. We were allocated room 18 which turned out to be on the ground floor at the front of the hotel by the car park and the busy A2 main road.
At around 00.40hrs we were awoken by the room directly above us, who were stomping around the room, and this continued for quite some time, we're assuming they'd either just arrived or were using the bathroom facilities. (This also occured on a couple of other occasions throughout the night) We tried getting back to sleep but were conscious now of the noise of the traffic outside. We obviously managed to doze off because we were awoken again at around 3am by a van driver parked right outside our window, turning his radio on full blast, and slamming doors before finally departing.
Again at just after 4am another van driver parked near our window was slamming doors before departing. Followed by a very loud motorcycle.
Clearly the secondary glazing in this room doesn't work effectively and the soundproofing in the ceiling also is inadequate.
Despite reporting all of this to Premier Inn they advised us that we should have gone to find a member of staff about the person upstairs and the outside noise is basically tuff . . Its not covered under their guarantee of a good nights sleep despite the room being next to the car park, so they deem this acceptable! Do yourself a favour . . Book an Airbnb other than this place, its easier to book, cheaper and you're guaranteed that Airbnb will make sure they solve any issues you might...
Read moreIt's a premier Inn so you know what you are getting. Right nrxt to a main road but still I slept well. My only thing with premier inn is that if you need a twin room one person has to sleep on a sofa bed! So the night before a marathon I slept on this hard little "not quite a bed" whilst my mum (running a half) slept in the most comfortable looking (and I know from experience it is) enormous bed! The rooms are big enough to have good sized twin beds, even converting the enormous bed into two would be better. They offer a guaranteed good night's sleep but other tgan a child nobody could (in my opinion) have a good night on that little mean bed. I know I can tell staff etc but I didn't want to make a fuss in front of my mum who was already feeling guilty about having the bed, who could make their 70+ year old mum sleep on a sofa bed without guilt? My tip is to ask for another duvet and sleep on top of one so as to make it soft and bearable. The room was large, clean and has tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom clean, annoying always on fan whenever the light was switched on, no midnight wee without everybody knowing and being woken. But it did have body wash and towels. But it's very good for the money, safe and predictable which before going out and running 26 miles...
