Booked this of the morning we stayed, as my youngest son was on an inset day the day after. Booked via booking.com £57 for one night. Email with instructions duly followed lots of them including directions which looked daunting. As it happened it was not, follow the post code given and it will take you to the park entrance you are then following the residents only road. The instructions are easy to follow after that. Lovely warm welcome from the lady on site, directed us to our tent No.4 and much was enormous for the two of us. Very clean inside, mattress were two single and one double, carpets on the floor and a chest for your stuff plus one log effect heater which on full power was very effective. It was cold during the night without it on. One small lamp . Outside you have a picnic table and a tripod BBQ which underneath would double up as a fire pit. We took a disposable BBQ and sat this on top of the suspended grill worked brilliantly. Separate communal kitchen area was very clean and you have a fridge allocated to your tent, shared with two others I think, be warned ours was so cold it froze the bacon. Milk cofffe tea pan’s cutlery condiments abound. Stove was massive and very clean. Toasters and microwave available. All very tidy and somewhere to eat under cover also. Toilets showers Mens were spotless and shower piping hot, would agree more hooks needed. Very quiet site as only 3 family’s were there. One family toasting marshmallows on their fire pit looked delicious: close to the park and water Hirt walk away. Didn’t do anything really just read and chilled and one small walk. Overall very nice indeed. Tip...
Read moreHad to respond to this complete joke of a response. I am a 54 year old male who booked a tent for myself my partner Emma and disabled son Beb. Bens brother came along with five friends and we decided to ask for tent next door to spread ourselves out. We where told by employee manager was asleep and to go and ask him if he had availability. This was at check in time so a bit strange and not knowing it was his personal space as no signs up we walked around only to be met by him pushing is back saying we were not aloud in. Get your facts right, he then told employee off in front off us before asking what we wanted. I spoke to several other guests one group with six males tent next to us and nobody had a problem. I the 54 year old who then made the booking said we would leave as soon as my money was refunded only for manager to tell me he had no cash and he wouldn't Rob me. Your manager has said his employee was wrong yet still you argue we shouldn't have invaded his private space after being told to go see him. You have a manager asleep in his so called home at two o'clock who came out very red faced and angry at check in. He told my partner who is female no all male parties. Its actually laughable and the fact our son has brain damage and was extremely upset just goes to show how bad his...
Read moreVery small site offering bell tent glamping. The site is right next to the Camping and Caravan section of the Royal Victoria Country Park. The post code of the site, using Google Maps, or iPhone Map take you to the back end of the park with bollards blocking the way. The campsite should warn that. Then when you do find the entrance a mile down the road, you have to go through a series of barriers and guess you way down a mile of track where the campsite is. Frankly, the sign posting is atrocious. There is no reception, everything is done by mobile phone. The bell tents are nicely maintained, sitting on a wooden deck. Each bell tent and deck has its own pub style table/bench seats and a BBQ - not all the BBQ were in good condition - some were complete wrecks. The lighting in the bell tents were AA battery powered fairy lights that are very dim and there for effect rather than any kind of lighting ability.
The are are 10 bell tents squeezed into a tiny plot of land. The washing area was discusting - never saw anybody clean it. The lavatory and shower block was a coverted container and I refused to take a shower - the showers were all mouldy - seriously. Why can't they be cleaned? - this is not Luxury Glamping. I have visited non luxury plain campsites that are cleaner and...
