I've got to say my experience at the Marina Hotel was pretty grim. Stayed in a twin room with no windows (booked through work so didn't get a choice). The room itself was unpleasant- two large lights - one broken and filled with dead flies/spiders, the other semi-covered with a sheet of paper. Beds were very uncomfortable, and one had a large blue stain on the bedding under the pillows. Bathroom smelt like mould/eggs and every time I flushed the toilet it made a very very loud gurgling sound that took about 5 minutes to disappear. The fire alarm had a large green light on it which stayed on throughout the night, very bright and irritating. The only places to get food are an Indian restaurant on site or a bar - wasn't able to take food back to my room which was disappointing as I felt unwell and just wanted to have a quiet evening on my own. Only staff member I spoke to was OK- there was a mix up with my booking and on her system it kept saying I needed to pay, eventhough I had written confirmation via email that it had been completely paid for by my company and that if the hotel questioned this, they should raise it with the booking agency. This had happened before at other hotels and staff had always been helpful, trying to call the booking agency etc, but this woman essentially said no, she had to get me to pay and I had to sort it out myself. After about 20 minutes of me trying to login to my work laptop, get the travel booking details, reach and agent etc, the agent eventually told me the hotel should accept my confirmation and contact them themselves, so the lady finally let me go to my room. I then asked if there was room service and she laughed and explained about the bar and Indian restaurant. The location was lovely - next to the canal and within walking distance of a picturesque village

🌟 5-Star Review for Royden Marina Village 🌟 I can’t recommend Royden Marina Village highly enough — this place is a hidden gem that truly exceeded expectations! I stupidly booked via "booking.CON" Who said it was the last superior room, then when I got confirmation said it was standard!! I rang them and they up graded to superior From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. The marina itself is beautifully maintained, with tranquil surroundings and stunning views that create a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Whether you're visiting by boat or just looking for a lovely spot to stay, it’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. The facilities are excellent: clean, modern showers and washrooms, well-kept pontoons, ample parking, and a fantastic café serving great coffee and homemade cakes — ideal for a leisurely afternoon. The entire site is immaculately presented and clearly cared for with pride. The staff deserve a special mention: professional, helpful, and always ready with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble, and their attention to detail really made the whole experience stand out. The village itself has a lovely, friendly feel with plenty of walks nearby for anyone who enjoys nature and the outdoors. It’s also a great spot to moor up and explore the surrounding area. In short, Royden Marina Village is a perfect place for boaters, holidaymakers, and anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with top-class facilities and service. I’ll definitely be back — it’s a place you won’t want to leave! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I booked lodge 6 from 5th till 8th Aug 24 with my son and dog. The lodge is outwardly very pleasant and comfortable. Unfortunately we encountered heavy paranormal activity in this lodge. There was banging of the wardrobe doors in the master bedroom while we were all in the kitchen area on the second night. Three loud bangs. My swimming costume was moved to behind the curtain from where I left it in the ensuite. My phone lost charge and was glitching constantly. The plug sockets worked and then didn't. The hob turned itself on again after I had used it. Then the real terror began on the last night. The door to the broom cupboard opened on it's own while we were in bed (we slept in the twin room as I was too worried to sleep separately after the wardrobe banging). After a restless night and the dog pacing and wining in the lounge, I woke to find all the kitchen cupboards open!!! I said, right we are leaving to my son. We stayed together and frantically packed everything up. We went into the master bedroom together and saw all the drawers had been opened and the wardrobe doors opened too during the night. We went back to the twin room together after being in the Master bedroom, and all the drawers had been opened in the bedside cabinets, the wardrobe was open fully and the cabinets under the sink were open, all while we had been in the master bedroom! We never used any of cupboards or wardrobes and had kept our belongings in our own bags during the stay. As were were leaving, still stood together as we were terrified, I placed all our belongings in the porch and my son said ' Oh my god, the broom cupboard handle is moving, the door is opening again'. We ran out of that place so fast. Also the hot tub was so hot, it never lost temperature even though we kept the cover off, so we couldn't really use it comfortably. We have never ever experienced poltergeist activity before. This has truly...

I recently stayed for two nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. Upon check-in, I was informed that due to a technical issue, I was being upgraded to a luxury lodge. However, the situation quickly went downhill from there.

The upgrade turned out to be a double-edged sword – while I was placed in a better accommodation, I was treated like an inconvenience for it. Despite the upgrade, I was told that because of the lower room rate I had paid, I couldn’t access all the amenities of the lodge. This seemed completely unfair and confusing.

When I politely inquired about the restrictions, my attempt to resolve the situation was met with unnecessary hostility. Security was sent to my lodge to confront me, and I was subjected to a very uncomfortable interaction with a security officer, who threatened me with a body camera and a warning that everything I said and did was being recorded. This overbearing approach left me shaken and deeply distressed. A single girl staying on her own.

I came to this establishment expecting a relaxing experience, but instead, I was made to feel unsafe, unwelcome, and uncomfortable in the accommodation that was supposed to be an upgrade. The entire situation was exacerbated by the complete lack of empathy and professionalism from staff, both at reception and security.

I’ve submitted a formal complaint, but it seems that the management is unwilling to address my concerns. It’s clear that my experience wasn’t an isolated one, as I’ve seen other reviews reflecting similar issues. It’s unfortunate that such a beautiful location is marred by such poor service and treatment of guests.

If you're considering staying here, I highly recommend you think twice. I sincerely hope that management will take customer feedback seriously and train their staff on how to treat guests with respect and courtesy.

Avoid if you want a pleasant and...
