We stayed in the Brookfield B&B for a weeklong stay in June. We had booked the accommodation via an internet booking website for the intention of visiting the Lake District.|Arriving by car mid-afternoon, we were warmly welcomed by Lorna and our room was ready for us to occupy. The room contained both a single and double bed, wardrobe with a three-quarter length mirror, chest of drawers, flat screen TV, table with tea, coffee and hot chocolate making facilities with biscuits and even marshmallows. A two-seater settee and electric fan was positioned in a bay window and there was ample room for our suitcase to stand. Either side of the double bed was small unit with a lamp. There was a reasonable amount of three pin electrical sockets available to use. The room was situated upstairs at the front of the property and was quite spacious. It was decorated in a traditional style and we both found it to be very homely and we slept very well each night. |The room had some thoughtful touches such as tissues, bottles of water, leaflets for local attractions including bus route information and a list of recommended restaurants in Keswick town centre. Pictures with local scenes adorned the walls not only of our bedroom but also the breakfast room and hallway.|The room had a reasonably sized ensuite bathroom which contained a toilet, wash basin and shower cubicle. Above the wash basin was a mirror with light and there was an electric shaving socket provided as well. There was a good amount of flat surface to hold toiletries and liquid soaps and shower gels were available in dispensers. The ensuite had no windows and was vented via an electric fan. |Our room was serviced each day whilst we were out and this included replenishing any biscuits or teas and coffees we had used the previous evening.|The Brooklands B&B offers free WIFI and we found this to be of a good speed allowing us to upload our photos each evening and also allowing access to the internet for planning activities for the coming days. |Car parking was available in an adjacent (and lightly used) street visible from the B&B and although also used by other B&B’s guests and local residents we never had a problem finding a space when returning in the evening.|Breakfast was served in a pleasant room downstairs in two ‘fixed’ time slots of either 8AM or 9AM agreed with us on arrival. The breakfast was very comprehensive with vegetarian options available and having the choice of cereal, yogurts & fruit juices. A cooked breakfast with various options is also available, guests may choose what they want at the table and we found these to be very filling, giving us plenty of energy for our planned walks during the day. Tea, coffee and toast accompanied breakfast and additionally there is a very good range of fruit, cheese, jams, marmalades and other spreads. |The Brookside B&B is located approximately one mile from Keswick town centre and if we were visiting there in the evening, we chose to walk via a section of the Keswick to Threlkeld railway trail along the former railway line which passes nearby and is a pleasant walk in itself with a good walking surface. |Lorna our host, could not have been more welcoming and made us feel very comfortable here. She often offered us good advice based on her local knowledge about our daily plans and was always bright and helpful, the perfect host. |This was our first visit to the Lake District and we thoroughly enjoyed our break there. All in all, we found the Brookfield B&B to be the perfect base for exploring the Lake District and we would undoubtably stay here again if revisiting and would not hesitate to recommend...

We had a couple of questions about our dogs and immediately were put at ease.|Our welcome was warm and genuine and she told us everything we needed to know.|We had a family room which was at the top of the house and was spacious and extremely well equipped. An array of teas to put a 5 star hotel to shame and everything from ear plugs to fluffy white towels in the bathroom.|The beds were extremely comfy and we both slept really well. Whilst we were on the front of the property, the road is very quiet throughout the night. The views to Latrigg, at the rear are stunning.|Breakfast was incredible. My friend had the full works and couldn’t eat it all and Lorna’s sense of humour came to the fore when I ordered sausage, egg and tomato (see pic).|There is every jam, honey, peanut butter you could ever want plus gluten free options for the cereals. Yoghurts, juices, fruits, cheese and bars, which you are welcome to help yourself to at any time, of just at breakfast.|Brookfield is a steady 20-25 minute into the centre of Keswick so once the car was parked on the road opposite, it didn’t move for the 3 nights.|Lorna is the absolute epitome of a proper B&B landlady and we had a brilliant and relaxing stay.|Highly...
Read moreThis place is a delight, I wish I could give them 6 stars.
The location is perfect to move between Keswick centre (at walking distance) and mountain hikes.
The hosts are the nicest people you can meet. They provided plenty of local recommendations and even printed us the mountain daily weather report when they heard us planning our mountain hikes for the day.
The breakfasts are delicious, with insanely big portions (we had to beg for smaller portions at some point!) and plenty of variety and attention to detail. They provide vegan sausages, avocados a big variety of fruits, jams... I still have to find a place in London that cooks a full English half good as Lorna's one
The room was spotless clean, with a very comfy bed, a great shower with good pressure and hot water, and lots of biscuits, teas, etc. We noticed that if you eat a biscuit they replenish it for you daily. That is the level of attention for detail they have in this place.
On the second day of our five nights stay we were already talking about staying here on any future trip we make...
