Where do I start with this amazing welcoming little pub. Cosy friendly atmosphere from the minute you walk in for both locals and visitors alike. Happy smiley & welcoming staff clearly happy at work and happy to greet you. Clean, well lit but still cosy and with a great buzzing atmosphere. I have known this pub for many years and itâs great to have seen it go from its dilapidated state in the hands of previous long term tenants, struggling with short term tenants only interested in making quick money to now over the past year (and hopefully for much longer) being ran by a team who genuinely care about the pub and their customers. Posters around the pub advertising drinks offers, entertainment, bingo, quizzes, sports fixtures. Thereâs something for everyone here.
Had 2 cowboy burgers from a great menu that caters to all. Allergens are clear to see and the online facility for sorting this through the menu is great. From light bites, lunch deals and full âpub grubâ options & a pint of Stella and Guinness from the well stocked bar with many different drink options. Glasses were clean & pints well poured tasting great & showing the cellar systems are well maintained. My partner was thrilled to received a â properly settledâ Guinness not the usual rush job most places throw across the bar at you. The burgers arrived after no wait at all and were freshly cooked, juicy and tasty. Fair to say we didnât leave a crumb. If youâre considering calling into visit wether day tripping or a local. We had a table booked for 6.30pm. Ordered our drinks at the bar at 6.45pm then ordered our food straight after. At 7.30pm we asked at the bar how long our food will be as we hadnât received our starters yet, the staff member behind the bar replied you only ordered 10 minutes ago and checked the time which our food order went through on the system and it was saying only 10 minutes ago. There was clearly a delay in their system as we had ordered 45 minutes ago. The staff member then replied saying âcancel your foodâ. This shows the lack of customer respect and confirms they had not started making our meal yet. Our starters finally arrived after being in the pub for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Our main meal then arrived 2 hours after arriving at the pub. The starters were really nice, however the mains were awful. There was lots of flies around the food also.
We then asked the bar staff for a discount off the food as we had waited 2 hours. The bar staff went and got another staff member ?supervisor. The supervisor said we were ârude and abusiveâ to the staff earlier when asking how long our food will be which is complete lies. We said we have never received an apology for the delay in food to which the supervisor replied âwe sent a member of staff to your table to apologise for the delayâ which did not happen, again another lie.    Read moreGenuinely awful experience, the blonde manager behind the bar had ZERO customer service skills. A queue had a developed waiting for food, rather than politely addressing those in the queue she says loudly to her colleague "no way I'm serving all these people the food stops at quarter to seven that's clearly advertised" we had been queuing for 25 minutes and all had arrived before the cut off time which was still ten minutes away. She said loudly Jordan (obviously the chef) is going to go mad he's on his own (not our fault and should a place be open if they can't staff it) she then refused us service, was horrendously rude to a couple behind us (the woman was pregnant and she still refused her any food) she then started to shout and get defensive refusing to serve anyone. Genuinely have not seen such terrible customer service, she was confrontational, aggressive, and had no clue how to handle a queue of people.
I could not recommend more strongly you go elsewhere, staff slow, rude and relying on the age old hospitality excuse of saying "we are short staffed" while standing doing nothing or wandering around aimlessly.
In my years of management I would never ever hire someone with that level of service, nor someone who barked at their young...
