We booked this site after looking at Haven sites and finding them very expensive, We like that this was more reasonable cost with better accommodation, a whole cottage to make ourselves at home.|We also liked that there was a pool and children’s play area. |We was very pleased when we arrived and saw our cottage “the bakery” and it was everything we had expected, it was very clean and tidy inside, the welsh cakes make a lovely welcome. |Towels are provided, even additional for swimming. |I was slightly disappointed to find there was only a washer as the listing said washer/dryer, i was hoping i could go home with less washing but this was not the case, while there was an airing rack, there wasn’t loads of space to leave it.|Internet is extremely intermittent and drops signal alot, especially at peak times, ok for phones, but wouldn’t be any good if you need to do any work while away. |Pool was small but lovely and clean, slots do have to be booked, which we did in advance after reading reviews, but equally we had no problem booking additional or changing slots while there, there was one day we had a 9am slot but after 10minutes the pool door was not open, when we enquired at the desk, nobody could get hold of the lifeguard, for my child who is neurodivergent this was not great, i understand sickness but warning in advance would have helped. We were offered to swim at the Lydstep haven site. |Futher to that, you can use the shop and restaurants there which is good aswell as the beach access, however the route to the haven site is a very steep hill while walking so no good with anyone who has mobility issues, my daughter who also has CP, really struggled coming back up, while we could have drove there we felt if we was driving out there was better shop and restaurant options to us locally than just the haven site.|While we would return and also book the same cottage, we are in no rush to come back. DVD and games are kept in the welcome centre and can be borrowed for you trip which was a...
Read moreDated decor and musky smell within the accommodation, it was clean but not adequate for a family with young children 2/3 yr olds due to the solid tile floors and steep steps throughout the property made it a stressful place to be due to the risk to the young children of tripping and falling.
The pool is okay but is very dated with dirty plasters under the machine attached to the pool but the lifeguards were good and attentive, you do need to book time slots for the pool, the fire and ice spa is a joke, takes a significant amount of time to heat up in the sauna, steam room is mouldy in places and takes ages for the steam to actually come on and the ice cave is a large air conditioning unit pumping coldish air in with a small ice generating machine, would benefit from ice plunge pools, cold showers. I was just left disappointed. The opening times for the pool and spa are late in the morning 9am so if you fancy waking up and going for a swim before heading out for the day sadly your luck is out.
Gym is well equipped but not spacious and machines are close together.
The play area is risky for younger children and is more for 5/6 yrs or older no where for younger children to play other than the grass areas. Take outdoor games to play if taking younger kids.
No shop on site which for a self catering accommodation is tricky but you can walk down to the Haven caravan park but be ready for the hill climb back up.
The pitch and out golf is okay greens are more like fairways but it is playable.
Only 10ish mins from Tenby and views of Lydstep beach are lovely.
The fish and chip van on a Wednesday is fantastic and is really yummy, defo worth a try.
I would say this place is more for families with older children 8/9 yrs plus.
No managers on site so any issues you are asked to email to express any concerns or issues.
We sadly left disappointed in our experience for the money...
Read moreStayed here for a second time (22-26 April 2013) and once again had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Our accommodation (The Parlour) was smaller than last year’s (Oyster Catchers) but in no way did this detract from it – it was just perfect for two old biddies and a dog. Gerrie made us feel most welcome on arrival and The Waves’ staff were more than helpful when we couldn’t have our evening meal as planned – which, when we did manage to have it, was just superb. I even took advantage of early morning swims in the pool and was sooo glad that I had the pool to myself because I hadn’t swum for about eight years so was rather rusty – not at all elegant!!! All the staff we met couldn’t have been more helpful – such a plus when one is away from home. As with our holiday in Wales last year – the weather was Welsh!!! Not a lot can be done about that but we did find some lovely beaches for Sam the Lab to enjoy his holiday. Look out Wales – we’ll be back!!!
My sister and I booked through Groupon for a three night stay from 23 April. On 26 April we added another night because we just couldn't bear to leave!! The accommodation was 'top notch' and the Waves Italian Restaurant was lovely. I didn't quite fancy the veggie options so the chef prepared a very tasty ratatoullie with pasta for me - wonderful. The girls on reception were extremely helpful in trying to find a photography shop who could supply me with a special battery for my camera (duh, left mine at home). The accommodation (Oyster Catchers) was better than we had expected - so homely, even the radio was playing on arrival!! Once we've saved up enough (or better still manage to get another Grouon offer) - we'll be back. Next time we'd like a smidge more sun though pretty please. Oh and if you're thinking of going, a must see place is Carew Castle - even the rain didn't...
