Farr Bay Inn is a true gem on the NC500 route. The service was exceptionally friendly, warm, and welcoming. It has that lovely family-run feel, and the owner is simply amazing — she takes the time to chat and genuinely connect with her guests, making the experience all the more personal.
The location is perfect, with a stunning beach just a 5–8 minute walk away that I had entirely to myself, and a charming little museum just two minutes away where I learned so much about the area. The kitchen opens at 6 PM, and the food was pretty good. The building and outdoor space are beautifully maintained, adding to the overall charm.
For campervan travelers, the parking lot is spacious, and for just £10, I was able to stay overnight. Unlike some places that rush you to leave, they encouraged me to take my time and leave whenever I was ready, which was incredibly accommodating. They also offer small cottages at the back, perfect for those looking to stay for a night or two.
Highly recommend a visit — whether you're passing through or planning to stay a bit longer, the hospitality at Farr Bay Inn is truly...
Read moreWe stayed one night in this nice guesthouse. The room was comfortable and we slept well.||But dinner was a real shocker. As a starter, I ordered a salad (£9) described as tomato, watercress, walnuts, cheese, watermelon, and beetroot with a balsamic sauce. What I actually got was a plate with 2 tiny pieces of beetroot, 1 mini cube of watermelon, 1 single watercress leaf, a few cheese crumbles, and some balsamic sauce. No tomatoes, no walnuts. I’m not joking — I was speechless and couldn’t believe it!||When I complained, the only response I got was, “We’re sorry, maybe the chef ran out of tomatoes and walnuts.” The salad was still charged at full price, and they didn’t even offer to take it off the bill. Very disappointing, especially compared to the otherwise nice accommodation.||And to top it off, after booking we received an email from the host asking why we booked through Booking.com instead of directly with them. You wouldn’t believe it — the price on their homepage was actually...
Read moreWe stayed in one of the cottages out the back of the inn - and it was beautiful. Recently renovated it was modern, clean and had a lovely kitchen and living room. ||It felt very private, though they are building some pods opposite them so this might change. The beds were comfortable and they had nice towels.||We loved our meal and our overnight stay here. The staff were kind and friendly, and the food was great. The smoked salmon starter was generous, and the poached sea bass was delicious.||Breakfast was also excellent. ||It is very dog friendly with a beautiful beach which is an easy walk out the back of the inn. Just beware there are also loads of rabbits and rabbit holes, so some dogs could get over excited! The stream at the far end of the beach is fresh water if your dog has been looning around.||The only small negative was that the Wifi struggled to reach parts of the cottage and there is no mobile phone coverage. But that can be a good thing in many...
