Garth Cottage — Hotel in Great Britain

My daughter and I, along with other members of our canoe club booked Garth Cottage as a base for when our youngsters took part in a recent slalom competition.||We cannot praise Mark and Val enough. Due to the amount of wet and soggy kit that the kids wear and the need for drying space, as a parent you always make contingency plans to dry kit in hotel bathrooms and the like. ||Not at Garth Cottage! Our hosts very kindly gave us lots of options to dry kit and best of all took an interest in how the youngsters did in their races. My daughter summed it up as we left on Sunday afternoon, “it was more like staying with family than a hotel”. ||She was right, it was. Just returned home after an amazing weekend stay at Garth Cottage hosted by Mark and his mum Val. My wife and I have visited on many occasions and love returning to this idyllic location and Garth Cottage where we are looked after with delicious breakfasts and evening meals. The location is right on the River Wye and offers stunning views and peaceful walks through woodland alongside the river with nearby canoeing and kayaking rentals if you fancy getting on to the river. A lovely pub a few steps away if you fancy a night out and a few drinks. Free parking right outside the b&b and peaceful at night for an uninterrupted sleep. Took my wife and her best friend to Garth cottage for a couple of nights, and just got back, we have been quite a few times now, and never been disappointed., There is nothing better than sitting on the front patio, people watching in the evening. Marks cooking is superb, (both for breakfast and if you decide to have an evening meal), and Mark and mum Val are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble, even though my wife's friend is a coeliac, they made sure they had the right stuff in for her. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, with great views across and down the river.
