Updating my review as the management of this location has changed. I suspect it was re-tendered by the site owner, Forestry England. Sadly it appears that all food is now brought in pre- packaged from commercial catering suppliers. On my most recent visit I selected a bacon and boar sausage bap from the fridge which was heated, and a flat white coffee. After seeing several other customers get their coffee ahead of me, I politely queried, was my coffee in the queue, to initially be told no I wasn't changed for it on the order. This was checked and then confirmed as paid - which I'd hope for, with a bill of over £11 for a bacon roll and one coffee. When the coffee arrived it was very average, I suspect a single espresso shot rather than the expected double in a flat white. The roll was of good quality and the provided brown sauce sachet very generous in size (too much in fact) Not sure if this was charged as an extra. Sadly relative to the previous operator, I saw no evidence of any food or cakes made on the premises. The cabin has become a woodland version of Starbucks or Costa with city prices to match. There are many places locally where I believe the value/quality ratio is much better (see my other reviews for ideas). If you visit Symonds Yat Rocks it is your only option unless you want to take the steep path down to the riverside. Come for the view from the rock, not...

I chose here as reviews were good however after my visit I looked at the negative reviews out of curiosity.

Greed seems to be a thread. I am happy to pay high prices for quality. The coffee was ok (although I personally dislike disposable cups unless necessary or specificyrequested) but the food was cheap and nasty.

I have given 2 stars because the lady on the till was lovely. The location is stunning but this review is specifically for the cafe.

Almost £11 for coffee and a breakfast bap which had the cheapest and nastiest sausage I've seen in my life. It literally had no flavour at all. It must have been the cheapest bulk buy of sausages they could find. Shame on you!

Whilst I don't like to be cruel or personal because we all have bad days. The barista was rude and unfriendly. I'm reporting this here in the review as I think it must impact the other staff and that makes me sad. Ultimately there are plenty of non customer facing jobs for those who don't enjoy working with the public. It boggles my brain why this type of person ends up in the service industry.

Stunning location. The worst cafe (coffee was ok) I've been to for a long time Just see the pics of the sausage 🤮

On a constructive note. The parking is not clear. I embarrassingly ended up in the disabled parking (apparently a...

This has always been a fantastic breakfast stop in the past. I'm local and up here fairly often. The new owners have a good selection of food but sadly there is very little breakfast choice compared to previous owners. No gluten free breakfast rolls, no veggie breakfast rolls, not great if you are gluten free as there is hardly anything on the menu you can eat. It was always lovely to be able to get a freshly made bacon/sausage/egg roll before going for a walk. The move to premade food should make it easier to offer more choice but this is not the case. Also, I'm not sure what they did to the almond croissant but it was like nothing I've ever eaten before, and not in a good way! Lots of chatting staff not paying attention to waiting customers. Very...

This log cabin is a great place to eat after exploring Monmouthshire and the River Wye. Breakfast is served till 11. Lunch from 12. Lots of great choices. Cakes, crisps and ice-creams available too. I had the panini which was warm and tasty. Sooo good! Great views too. Benches outside the log cabin to sit and enjoy the views. Viewpoints overlooking the valleys and river, few walks and trials around too. Can walk for miles and miles. Parking is £3 for 2 hours. Free for Forest of England members. Toilets. Bins (only by cafe)
