We came for a seven night stay at High Elms, with my partner and 2 year old daughter. It was like 10-15 mins to the main complex and we were right around the corner from the lakehouse. So it was a good area to be in. Upon arrival, I was nervous as I've heard that caravans arnt that great and not clean at all. But I was pleasantly surprised. We had a bronze caravan and it was very clean and in great condition. However, the twin bedroom smelt of weed where my daughter would be sleeping. It wasn't that strong so it wasn't really an issue. Couldn't smell it after a few hrs of being in the caravan. ||The park itself seemed alright. It's massive and there's loads of things to do like activities and such. But these needed to be paid for which I didnt understand as you need play passes for these too. So you need extra money on top but wasn't too bad priced on some of them. My daughter had fun with make a Bear, bug Hunt, Activitots, Rangertots etc. We planned for an activity called nature trail on one day but not many people turned up and it got cancelled but I did get a refund which was nice.||Rats... there was quite a dozen of them running in and out of the bins that were outside my caravan, while we were taking the trash out. It was quite disgusting actually but nobody did a thing abt that. ||The arcades.... Some of them were broken. Taking the money out and not playing the actual game, and some arcades didn't give you tickets when it was supposed to. We had to complain quite a few times because of this. They fixed it for us. But they still appeared to be broken. We gave up eventually. On the last day before 10am when we were supposed to leave, we went down back to the arcades to cash in our winning tickets which was really crap prizes btw considering how much you spend to get tickets, upon leaving the arcades, my partner tried to get this ball out of this stall thing, you get a prize every time. He thought it cost 3quid. He already put in 2quid.. and then realised it was actually 1quid. He got no toy from it. We tried to find someone to tell them about it. But there was no one in sight. We couldn't stay there waiting for someone as we needed to get out the caravan at 10am and we had 15 mins to get back. So we had to rush back losing out on 2quid. ||The laundrette was a flipping nightmare. Oh god. We went there twice. The first time, the washing cycle was great but the dryer... there was only two that were working. Out of 6-8 i believe. We used up one dryer token. And then realised it was out of order. Someone was already using one of them so we tried the one below the "working" one. It asked for 2 pounds. We put in 2 pounds and it still didn't work. We were fed up at this point. We couldn't call anyone about it as reception was closed. So we waited there for 45 mins in hope someone would come to close up as it closes at 8pm. At 8.15pm no one came so we called an out of hrs number to only be told that they can't do anything about it and to call someone in the morning. We were fed up so we came back to the caravan in hopes to dry some clothes on the airier. But not many fit. And it was raining most of the time so it didn't help. The second time we came to the launderette, a lovely lady let us use their dryer since their clothes were dried and let us use up the 25 mins left on it. So that was nice of her! Thank you. ||The food was good. Especially the lakehouse, their chicken was spot on. And the chicken n leak pie i think it was.. was really lovely too. Burger king was good. And so was weatherspoons. Staff really lovely. The lakehouse is expensive tho.. but it is worth it! The mini market.. is expensive but we rarely bought anything in there. We brought things from home! I recommend to do that!! ||The entertainment area. We watched a circus which was amazing! And saw a bit of comedy/magician too. It was funny. My daughter loved the Seaside Squad, meeting them and interacting with them. She loved the shows and dancing and trying to sing along. ||We didn't get to go in the live lounge much. It was absolutely heaving! So flipping busy! The showbar on the otherhand wasn't that busy and had enough seats throughout the day to the evening. I'm guessing the live lounge is better and have more on which is a shame really as we wanted to watch certain things but realised that we need to be there an hour earlier or something just to get a seat!! The circus.. we were waiting in the que for about an hour cuz we didn't want to miss it and wanted to be closer to the front which we indeed were. But... the amount of people that are there especially in peak season, you expect staff members to control how many people can stay in the park at once. But that isn't the case here.||We went to filey on one day and also scarborough on another day. The beach is amazing and a nice little stroll from primrose to filey that we did. And scarborough.. we went to playdale farm park. Which was a let down. Nothing for the adults (very expensive prices for the adults). More for the older kids. But there was a little toddler area which she happily played in and the animals were cute and we also did chick handling there. Nothing special though. ||All in all... its been a good holiday. My daughter loved it. And we also loved it.. but came across a few issues that we wasn't impressed with. And we were getting fed up and stressed over it... the staff were friendly though. This was our first haven holiday. And wouldn't be our last. But I guess primrose valley does indeed need a few improvements. Would I visit...
Read moreBeen onsite for 3 days, this review is fair with what's happened so far. We drove 169 miles with our grandson, arriving at 3pm, check in was easy. It's our only holiday so we upgraded to a gold standard caravan. Once here and the car emptied I went to town for food, (the onsite shop is expensive), whilst my wife unpacked and looked after our grandson. Our intention is to cook breakfasts and eat out in the day on site, it is a holiday! When the food was put away we tried the wetherspoons for an evening meal. Prices were ok with fast service, but the price reflects the tiny portions. We won't go again, it was dirty, disorganised and very cramped. Tables and chairs were crammed in to accommodate, it was difficult to move around. I pity anyone in a wheelchair! After eating we went to the live lounge to watch the show, the drinks, food and toys were so expensive. We stayed 50 mins then returned to the caravan for an early night, we were so tired. We had a great night as the beds are very cosy, the gold van is indeed a bit of luxury. Sadly with a fresh set of eyes I did notice a few things that I am unhappy about, cleanliness and disrepair. We missed the 4hr cleanliness guarantee window which I learnt about afterwards. Regardless we would not relocate as it was late and it would be inconvenient with a 2 yr old, going home wouldn't be an option either! Whether we had booked a gold, silver or bronze caravan the cleanliness within the accommodation should be perfect across the entire park! 1000's of people work hard to pay for their special holiday so they should not find anything wrong, there is NO excuse! I know the cleaners have a limited time and the carpets and sofas will be dirty from previous guests but in a matter of minutes without even really looking, I saw cobwebs, dust, crumbs, smears, dirty nets, rubbish, marks on the ceiling, some even look like blood! This will not ruin the holiday but this filth is not good. With the disrepair, the screws on the door hinges are loose so they do not shut properly, a trim on the ceiling has been stapled on, vinyl in the kitchen has been poorly fixed, in the hall the replacement vinyl looks like it was cut with a spoon. I know wear and tear is a problem but it needs sorting, it is annoying as we paid extra for this. On 16-9-25 we took a walk to the beach not knowing there is no direct access, there is a 1/2 mile long route (from reception) to it via a very steep poorly maintained pathway that is so rough we witnessed a poor old man get stuck in his wheelchair! The beach is lovely with a nice walk to filey, it made the struggle worth it. When we returned due to a change in weather (heavy rain) and the disappointment at the pub we tried to order pizza in from the onsite Papa Johns via the Haven app, (everyday chippie closed!) after at least 10 attempts of the order failing due to technical glitches on the app my wife went out in the pouring rain to place the order whilst I looked after our grandson. The app seemed a bit pointless really. The prices were reasonable and the food was great. Today 17-9-25 we have been swimming and it was great, there are plenty of lifeguards around for everyones safety, the cubicles in the locker room could do with an overhaul as they are in a bit of a state. After this extremely long honest review I am going to see what the next few days will bring. As frustrated as I am with the cleanliness maintenance issues, holidays are made for memories which we are creating plenty of with our grandson, the family time is great and special and we are definitely making the most of it. The upgrade to a quiter area is great as we are away from the main complex so we are enjoying the peace, quiet and time with each other and the little one. I think if there is another Haven holiday for us in the future I will give our accommodation a very thorough check before accepting it, so this has taught me a lesson....it does not excuse it though! With the millions made, head office should invest in more cleaners and a dedicated maintenance team, I am sure they...

Not only will we not be returning to Primrose Valley, but this experience has soured us on the entire Haven brand, and we will not be visiting any of their sites in the future. Upon arrival, we were dismayed to find our caravan was not cleaned. We tried calling reception but couldn't get through, so we headed there in person, only to be met with a 30-minute queue. We were shocked to find the queue full of people complaining about the cleanliness of their caravans. When we finally spoke to a receptionist, we were taken aside and offered an £80 refund. She explained this was done discreetly so other customers wouldn't hear. I find this kind of behavior dishonest, but it seems to be the norm for Haven these days. Once inside the caravan, the problems continued. The shower was broken and leaking, the kitchen sink tap was loose, and the TV remote didn't work. There was also black mould and a persistent smell of damp throughout, making the stay uncomfortable and unpleasant. The entertainment options were limited, particularly for adults, and the food options were overpriced and lacked quality. The park itself felt overcrowded, making it difficult to relax and enjoy the surroundings. To add to our disappointment, we spotted rats around the caravan and bin areas, raising hygiene concerns. We also witnessed concerning safety issues, including drunk driving within the park and fights involving grown adults. We were further surprised to see staff members who were cleaning caravans also working in the shop, attending fairground rides, and taking food orders. This practice suggests poor management or a prioritization of profit over service, especially given the astronomical prices. During our stay, we also spoke to several caravan owners who were trying to sell their relatively new vans after only a year of ownership. They cited extortionate site fees as the main reason, although they acknowledged potential savings on holidays. However, their primary concern was with Haven's questionable business practices and the declining quality of the site. They felt selling their vans and cutting their losses was the quickest way out of a bad situation. While the staff were friendly, the overall experience was marred by the initial problems, the caravan's poor condition, the unsettling presence of rodents, the lack of safety, the company's seemingly deceitful practices, and the blatant focus on profits at the expense of customer experience. It did not justify the price. After a decade of loyalty to Haven, this experience has left us deeply disappointed. Adding to these issues, I was unfortunately laid up for the first two days of the trip with a sickness bug. While I can't definitively prove the cause, the poor hygiene standards around the site certainly didn't help. It seems Haven is more geared towards profits these days, regardless of the customer experience. We estimate that our family typically spends around £1500 per holiday on accommodation, and on food and drinks, we typically spend an additional £1470 per holiday. This brings the total cost of our Haven holiday to roughly £2970. Given that we usually vacation twice a year, over the course of ten years, this translates to a potential loss of revenue of approximately £59400 for Haven due to our decision to no longer patronize their parks. We hope this serves as a wake-up call for the company to prioritize customer satisfaction and improve...
