Simply awesome hotel and staff. Got stuck in Invergarry in the aftermath of Storm Amy. A87 and A84 were gridlocked and no way to get south to Ft William where we were going due to road closures. We were able to have our travel agent book a room at the Invergarry Hotel on a last minute basis.
Although they weren’t open until 3pm, we were allowed in an hour early to use the facilities and just rest from traffic turmoil. Paul, the manager (?) was juggling staff that had not been able to get home, staff that might not get in, and the influx of stranded road travelers. He did this with grace and patience - although I suspect he had not been able to get home the night before himself!
Check in was smooth and the room was spacious and comfortable with a king size bed and clean linens. Both dinner and breakfast were simply scrumptious. The bartender/server had left at 1am the night before but had to turn around. She spent the night on the sofa in the hotel office. Despite her rough night, she was the perfect hostess/bartender/server. A job made less easy with the flood of travelers not going anywhere.
Breakfast the next morning was excellent. We had the Scottish Kederee, which was excellent. That and strong coffee was the perfect start to our day with roads now open. A huge thanks to Paul and his team for what ended up being an excellent, albeit...
Read moreI first visited the Invergarry Hotel 7 years ago and gave a glowing review. A lot can happen in 7 years and on my return I was excited and a little nervous, hoping that nothing had changed. ||I had told friends that I was returning to Scotland to have the best breakfast that I’d ever had. A huge statement to make and to live up to!||I’d booked two trips: one for one night and one trip for two nights. ||I had booked the wee room, which from experience I knew was adequate for a short stay. I mean, how much room does one person need in a hotel? The bathroom is lovely. ||The WiFi was the only concern (it’s non existent in the wee room) but don’t let that deter you. Either download stuff to watch, buy an eSIM (if you’re a foreign traveler) or read a book! But as long as you’re prepared that’s the key. ||The service was as fabulous in 2025 as it was in 2018. It harkens to a time of yesteryear where you’re known as a person and treated with respect. You’re not just a number as you are with most large corporations. ||As for the food and the chef(s), they are AMAZING! Literally, it’s still hands down the best breakfast that I’ve ever had. The food is great quality and cooked impeccably.||I cannot wait to return. I adore this place and long may...
Read moreAs you drive along the picturesque A87 you will arrive eventually at the pretty, but busy in the summer months, village of Invergarry. Whether you seek a place to rest having just driven along the majestic beauty of Loch Garry, or perhaps will have that pleasure ahead... if you take my advice you'll enjoy your break and some refreshment at the very attractive Invergarry Hotel.
Here's a well run small charming hotel, well described as a country inn, with a pretty frontage, that offers good, tasty food options in its all-day brasserie, and bar. It's well set up for travellers, on the roadside, with car parking, and a separate entrance into the restaurant and bar.
The cooking is excellent and, with nods to tradition, lunchtime includes haggis that was scrummy (no sauce needed, but maybe that for overseas visitors) and beautifully presented. And beautiful looking fish, with great chips, for those who want the staples more. You can get burgers too. It's a super menu approach for travellers - there's a children's menu too. And good coffee. The service from the young team was welcoming, friendly and prompt. Highly...
