Found this to be from start to finish a most excellent place to be BBC Weather it be from the start with the staff polite well mannered but very professional at the same time you could tell you're in safe hands I thought it was going to be separated as a camping sites but this wasn't this was quite good everyone was together but keeping social distancing at the same time it was if we were having a dance we were given the choice of three places to pitch a tent whether it be in the shade or in the sun and another one 1-in both what would it be in a heatwave we chose the shade the area itself is beautiful you have somewhere called Forthill which I strongly advise you to go and check out for a walk Longleat is next door you can hear the Lion's Roar ring and and the seals making their noises but the actual campsite in a caravan park is in a forest what's an absolutely stunning part of the world you will be hard pushed to find somewhere better very reasonably priced as well it worked out 15 pound a day for the first person then for each person after that you get 25% off so so within Theory you get one person for free if there is 4 of you the showers were spotless they have a very good system for social distancing I use wristbands and you hang them up as you go into the toilet showers and take it off the hook as you go out only two people in it at time that you don't need much more than that you have have 4 separate toilets and showers and is also so a washroom for laundry do you have electricity if you want it I am but I'm going to go to the little bit personal here and say that this place is exactly what I needed I didn't need to go night clubbing I didn't need to go raving I didn't need to go partying what I needed was too to unwind and relax in the sun sunrise was beautiful as was sunset when I got back I could see that everyone else have been struggling at home causing serious problems but we didn't find it hard at all it was quite chilling first night but a refreshing chilli the next two nights we nice you don't need to spend a lot neither do have a good time voice you will have to take dogs with you if you have one please take it it will love it there is a stream running by with weeping Willows by the stream but if you enjoy hiking walking you will love this

Clean facilities. Clean pitches. Friendly staff. And good for SEND families, giving the staff a heads up about our daughters additional needs before our arrival helped alot. Lovely having fast food stalls in the evening. Games room closed to early at 6pm. So close to Longleat Safari Park it reduced alot of stress going back and forth. Good pitches with electricity with no issues. Terrible WiFi. Nice listening to the sealions next door! And a word to anyone who is planning to camp here who minds children playing....children are only children once. They are more limited these days where they can play freely so please be mindful of that if you want peace and quiet 24/7. You won't get that here. No one was unruly or noisy but there were some lovely children playing football and when their ball accidentally went near someone's campervan pitch they were screamed at to move away. Totally uncessary to scream and shout and children when they were already apologising. If children are bothering you on site complain to staff properly who will take action or find somewhere adult only. Thank you for a lovely stay. Only reason for not 10 stars is people kept walking through our pitch instead of around due to being next to facilities and next to a clue to treasure hunt and the WiFi issue and the games room closing early.

A Caravan & Motorhome Club Site (non-members are accepted) the site and facilities are of a standard you should expect as a member and for the site pitch fee and membership paid. As members, we paid for 3 nights (weekdays) for 2 adults £18 per night in November. Situated in parkland but just outside the grounds of Longleat House, there is no access to the grounds for those staying on-site, you need to purchase tickets to enter the grounds, safari park and house (discount for Club Members). During the House winter closure there is no foot access to the grounds and there are no public footpaths. But, there are two National Cycle Routes (NCR) 24 & 25 that pass through the Estate and with a bit of planning using an up to date OS map a very pleasant 13 mile circular cycle ride from the site can be planned, giving you great views of the house and parkland.

Aggressive worker's

The women on reception was very abrupt with no people skills. A few of our family members stayed here also and they were told to pick where they wanted to pitch. We had been told we couldn't pitch nearby unless we paid for an upgrade which we did and the worker told us which pitch to go to.

When she signed us in she forgot to give us a keyfob ( or even mention it) to get in and out of the gate. Which we didn't know about until we went to pop out the following day.

No one was at reception and it was closed, we drove around the site looking for a worker to no avail we also called the number provided but no answer so left a message, lastly (20 minutes after Searching) I found a Longleat worker who directed me to the workers caravan.

I stood outside the gate as I didn't want to intrude but shouted hello is anyone there. I did this three times before entering the gate. I then again said hello as I did two dogs began barking and a different women and a man came out of the caravan and the women very aggressively said what do you think you are doing walking into this area, this is my living quarters.

I apologised and tried to explain but was still met with rudeness and they stated that I would have been given a keyfob and I must have lost it etc. The male then said let's see shall we and we began walking to the reception (to try and prove I had been given the keyfob ) he then said " you are lucky the dogs didn't bite you! I didn't enter the caravan or the awning but stood outside, I just wanted to leave the site! I stayed in silence still shocked that I had been shouted at and trying to process everything

The man then said oh yea it's here and gave me the key fob that I should have been given on check in but was still hostile and tried to suggest I was at fault for not collecting the keyfob( I wasn't told about any keyfob)

Every interaction Myself or my husband had even prior to this with the staff was met with rudeness and or poor customer service skills. It upset me that much i just wanted to go home.

I complained to the camping and caravan club about this but of course nothing was done.

Other things to notes .

Traffic to the Longleat safari park is loud starting around 6am. No reception and WIFI very poor only good thing was that the toilet facilities are clean.

Wish I read the reviews on here and trip advisor before going. I suggest...

Great site with some issues.

First off this is a lovely site with well laid out spacious plots in a very nice, secluded location. The amenities are more than adequate and well maintained with no need to ‘trek’ to them. Plenty to do for the whole family (that is things for the kids to do and the usual monitoring of the kids by the adults).

Staff: We found the ground staff to be great, and in fact our two-year-old son was very enamoured with their ‘mowers’ and they were very accommodating with his questions. The staff on the admin side though were a little less accommodation and we found them to be short in both communication pre-stay and during the stay.

Pitch: As mentioned the pitches are large and well maintained but we did have an issue with the stone chipping that they use on the pitches. Hard under foot even with carpets in the awning. Hard to get pegs through and then due to the thickness of the layer of chipping, the pegs came out easily by hand and by natural elements as we noted during high winds.

Covid: They have installed a very sensible 5-person maximum occupancy in the ablution’s blocks. There are 5 hooks outside the blocks on which you put your rubber wrist band, if all hooks are taken you must wait. This is great apart from the fact that it is not enforced at all. People coming and going without using bands. Five bands on the hooks but people still entering etc.

Mobile and Wi-Fi: If you have kids that must have something to watch on their pads please take time to download all that is needed before arriving at the park as mobile reception is pretty much non-existent. There is Wi-Fi on site but DO NOT be tempted into this even if the £11 for 7 days seems reasonable. I did and noted that I was lucky to get 0.23Mbps. Suspecting that it was because of our location I checked the speed using Ookla and got a marginally better 0.32Mbps near their office. Three of us in our two-family group purchased this and not one of us received any better on any device.

Canine Friends: There is an amazing dog walking area just off site which I must applaud them on.

Longleat: The obvious access to this is a great bonus although we did find that during these current Covid times Longleat really doesn’t warrant the excessive cost to visit.

Would we go again? Unless we were going to the Safari Park, probably not. It is really good but not good enough to...
