Absolutely perfect. Stopped over for a night on our drive from Ullapool to Inverness. Situated on the bay with a lovely view from the front patio. This hotel has been owned and run by the Hennesy family for 19 years. Mom and Dad plus their two sons provide the personal touch. A wonderful family-run hotel rarely found today. We stayed in a recently renovated large suite with a private patio overlooking the bay. One son provides the on-going renovation/maintenance and the other son is the head chef. And he is quite a chef. The dinner was next level. Our dinner was the best meal we had during our week stay in Scotland. The main courses were creative without being fussy. The desserts were divine. The creme brule was perfect. Wish we could have stayed for their weekly Sunday roast which I'm sure is amazing. Reserve your table in advance since the quality of the food is well known to the locals. On the morning of our departure the Mom packed us a box of homemade shortbread for our drive to Inverness. Just such a wonderful dinner and overnight stay. Many thanks to the...

I booked 7 rooms for a six night photography tour. From the first minute we were made to feel at home. A lovely, warm family style welcome put everyone at ease for the week ahead. All the rooms were spacious and immaculately clean at all times. One guest had an issue with a radiator being bled and it was fixed immediately. Another guest had a gluten free diet and was looked after perfectly. Breakfasts were varied and substantial. One guest ordered the full Scottish breakfast on the first morning and was given a feast fit for a king. The bar had an excellent selection of beers, a number of which were local and some excellent whiskies as well. We ate there every evening bar the last night (a trip out to Badachro) and the food was excellent on all occasions. I'd like to praise every member of staff for the way they welcomed my clients. Every one of them was friendly and efficient. I really can't fault the experience. A week full of smiles. Thank you. I've added a couple of photos from Gairloch and the surrounding area to show why...

Lovely situation with splendid views. Helpful friendly staff front of house. I was not a resident but booked for an evening meal on recommendation.

Good to big portions, reasonable value too, we have very nice starters, scallops and smoked salmon and would recommend them.

Unfortunately the mains were very poor hence three stars. Duck was not rendered and was very chewy, the mash had hard lumps. The fish and chips, the cod was lovely but batter was disappointingly soggy and the chips were clearly frozen which is understandable given the remote location (we originate from the outer hebrides so appreciate the difficulties of supply), but they were also very soggy. The pea puree however was fabulous. We should have raised this after the first mouthful but persevered and didn't want to cause a fuss. More the fool us. We will know next time.

In short, the experience was disappointing for the food but there was a very good choice so perhaps...

We visited for a pre booked evening meal and a good thing we did as the person behind us was turned away as it was fully booked. The food was amazing, I didn't manage to get a photo of my wife's as she was already tucking in as it looked so tasty. I had the Cajun chicken with sweet potato fries with 3 scoops of Ice cream for dessert (mint choc chip, coffee and salted caramel). My wife was delighted with her choices. We had a coffee in the saloon bar which has the best selection of Rums I've ever seen anywhere. We had an outstanding view of the sunset over the bay and couldn't ask for a better location for are meal. We returned the following afternoon for a coffee and homemade Shortbread and Rum Truffles. All of which was amazing particularly the shortbread as we had looked for some locally made and had found none. Could easily sit here all day and enjoy the view and the food. The only negative was I couldn't see an disabled access anywhere.

We just completed the NC500 and out of all of the hotels we stayed at this was by far the best. This is a modern and beautiful hotel. Our room had a small sitting area with desk and coffee/tea service that looked out over the bay. Absolutely exquisite. The wood interior and bed frame made this a very special room. The bathroom was modern and luxe and the bed was very comfortable. We cannot say enough good things about this place. Our only regret is that we stayed here only 1 night. We both could easily see coming back for a week long stay to relax and unwind. The hotel had beautiful sitting areas in the front. The restaurant was superb. The chef is excellent. Do NOT pass up eating here. There are other hotels in Gairloch, but you would be foolish to pass up the Myrtle Bank hotel.

Myrtle Bank Hotel: A Hidden Gem in Gairloch We were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon the Myrtle Bank Hotel in Gairloch. After a chilly and windy day, we decided to pop in for a quick coffee. Little did we know, we were about to discover one of the best cocktail bars in the north! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, even with our fussy kids and our desire for a variety of cocktails. The decor was simple yet stylish, and the location was perfect. While we didn't stay at the hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. The cocktails were exceptional, and the service was top-notch. If you're ever in Gairloch, be sure to stop by the Myrtle Bank Hotel for a drink (or two)!
