I’ve been to many of this chain’s sites and enjoyed the whole experience. This particular one excelled itself. The staff were very friendly. And I mean that, not just the usual American inspired “have a nice day, you’re welcome” formulaic answers. I felt like an individual person was taking a real interest. So well done to ALL the staff I met! The cooked breakfast seemed to have better than normal ingredients, well cooked. Even now, more than 200 miles away, and 26 hours later, I am thinking of going back for more!! The lost star comes from the room heat. My room was Cold. With a capital letter. I arrived early to do some work on laptop but couldn’t. Investigation of the room thermostat showed an error code. The receptionist solved this problem by getting me a room heater, which sorted the matter out for me, so she gets full marks from me for dealing effectively with my problem. The issue is with maintenance: the temperature control did not fail just the minute I walked into the room - the system was already in error mode. That error mode was identified by the receptionist on a panel in her office, not by her going to my room. Surely it should be someone’s task to check for these error modes before customer occupation as a daily check, to stop defective rooms being occupied? Once a day for all rooms would be reasonable. If the system does not flag up such failure I would suggest a new system, as this chain is built on customer comfort. But I will still go back again because the customer...
Read moreWell placed on the edge of town. Recently opened, they were still working on the entrance area. Thin floors between ground and upper. No good if you don't want to hear someone'd early morning love making or testing out their latest shopping channel exercise equipment which they had brought with them may be.
The room although new had a fixed shower head which is old fashioned. There are some Travelodges that have detachable shower heads. I don't think I have seen these in Premier Inns.
Free WiFi but like other Premier Inns it logs you out so you don't get your overnight software updates and newspaper downloads. Can sort of live with it. Power point provided by the bed for overnight charging. Like other Premier Inns on the table across the room, the 13 amp socket is placed to close to the table so your charger wont plug in, least mine that protrudes. I carry a 13 amp adapter which fixes the problem.
Beds are very comfortable at Premier Inns and they do provide a sofa unlike Travelodge. I like the small bedside table that you can move close to you when reading and drinking. Car park is nice and big. Towels were changed daily and house keeping good.
Didn't eat in the attached pub. That...
Read moreAfter 14 months of covid and 3 looooong lockdowns we were so pleased to finally be able book a couple of nights away. On arrival Fri 21st May we were met with a very warm welcome at reception. We booked our breakfast for the 2 days, worth it for convenience. The waitress at breakfast was attentive, friendly and cheery. Prompt service and the porridge and fresh cooked breakfast well presented and perfect. A clean environment to sit in too with all the distancing measures in place. We had an issue on the first night with a noisy fan which wouldn’t switch off and kept us awake. So at 1.30am I headed down to reception and was met with the most friendliest and helpful reception lady. She did her best and phoned for advice and then moved us to another room even though it was 2am!!! She was brilliant and I cannot remember her name. We couldn’t fault the cleanliness of the rooms either. Would highly recommend and we will stay there again. Don’t forget to book next door at The Lost Coins Pub for...
