We stayed for one night in August, when we arrived I thought I had gone to the wrong location as the attached pub looks derelict as does the car park. As we parked up the Premier inn was like most others although the car park was empty at 4pm when we arrived.||The premier inn was as you would expect clean, quick check in and the usual questions about breakfast and evening meal.||We booked to eat at 5 pm but the restaurant wasnât busy yet so the little one played outside in the play park until we ordered food, the indoor soft play is closed due to a roof leak.||When we ordered food we heard the people behind complaint about their chicken which was hard.||My wife ordered the gammon thinking it would be fine but we were wrong, it had been pre cooked and heated up, it was so dry that if you had used it as a hammer it would have shattered.||It had taken less than five minutes from ordering to have all 3 meals placed before us.||My wife sent hers back and it was returned with in 5 minutes with a different and only slightly better piece of Gammon.||When the staff cleared up she asked how the meal was, we were honest. She was also honest saying the site is up for sale and the kitchen staff no longer have any passion in the kitchen as they donât care anymore as they donât know what the future looks like. A nice honest member of staff, she also apologised but didnât offer a solution. ||Off to bed we went without ordering a desert or more drinks.||The following morning we went for breakfast, after some confusion about the meal deal as we had said at check in we wanted it we explained what had happened the previous evening to the duty manager, the manager apologised especially when she heard what we had been told by the staff the previous night, she confirmed that they precook a number of servings to get ahead when the rush starts but acknowledged the poor meal and service giving us breakfast for free.||As far as the breakfast goes itâs the standard fare, what I would say everything was probably cooked but just. The sausages had no colour on the skin and the bacon was very pale. We ate at 8:3oam and they may have been struggling to keep up with demand as guests that hadnât booked were asked to wait as all the tables were booked.||Overall itâs a good premier inn in a poor setting with a very poor pub attached. Would I stay at the hotel again- possibly if I had too but as there was no other eateries nearby I would have to order a takeaway as I couldnât eat in the...
Read moreWe were booked in for 3 nights with breakfast and evening meal, our first night was awful there was a extraction fan in our ceiling running that loud we could not hear the TV, we tried to go to sleep thinking it may switch off but gave up at midnight and asked for another room, I saw the receptionist in the morning and she said they had called out an engineer, we then transfered back to our original room as he found a switch in the ceiling to turn it off, the staff in the hotel were lovely the restaurant was another matter, breakfast no problem with the food or staff but the evenings were appalling, a total lack of organisation, the manageress lacked customer interaction and very abrupt shouted who's next when we was queuing, no one was telling any customer how the system worked and I had booked a table for 4 as our granddaughters were joining us and we was told to sit anywhere, staff were clearing tables and not wiping them down and resetting them hence the reason we sat at a dirty table both nights and on the second night we had to get our own cutlery and napkins after the food arrived, our second night was even worse, apparently the computer order system went down but no body noticed for at least 20 minutes, we waited 45mins before our food to come out and a lady sat near us waited an hour for her food she started with cheesy toasted bread but she wanted it with the main meal, everyone was complaining and all the manageress was doing was walking around looking confused as a young lady was manually getting everybodies orders, in my opinion the management should have been talking to the customer's and not send a young girl in the firing line, would I visit this hotel again 100% I wouldn't only due to the lack of organisation and control in the restaurant, we could not face another night in the restaurant so checked out as 2 nights was bad enough loosing the money of another night, evening meal and breakfast x 2 guests, the worst Premier Inn I have ever stayed in, shame the restaurant let the hotel down as the hotel staff were wonderful, my cheesy garlic bread was untoasted on one side, my chicken pie had 3 pieces of chicken but it was tasty, mushrooms was typical frozen breaded mushrooms, would it have hurt to put a little salad dressing on the...
Read moreWe stayed for two nights and had a conjoining room. This was a perfect set up for a family of five. The staff had put on a scavenger hunt for children to find ice creams symbols to win a treat, which I thought was a lovely idea. Front desk staff were kind and helpful, interacting well with both the adults and the children, which made everyone feel welcome. Our rooms were clean and modern (the TV didnât connect to many of the channels but we eventually managed to find CBeebies which worked). Comfortable beds. Towels etc. were well-stocked and we had plenty of beds to choose from. There was a play park, grass area, outdoor seating, restaurant and indoor play area (though this was mainly closed). Good sized car park. Good location, close to the Humber Bridge, Cottingham and a short drive to Hull City centre.
The only real downfalls were: One lady who worked in the restaurant who my party felt had poor customer service. For identification, she was of slim build, with tied up long brown hair, wearing a black shirt and black cardigan, possibly in her 40s/50s. Her demeanour was poor and everything seemed like an inconvenience for her. It wasnât just on one occasion dining with her, it was several and I also observed her interacting with other customers the same way. It was a real shame because every other staff member we interacted with were welcoming, friendly and were keen to help in whichever way they could. I apologise that this reflects badly on other staff members. She may just need additional training. The indoor play area was only open for half a day over the three day period we stayed. When I asked the lady above if the play area would be open today, she responded rudely, blaming staff shortages. No air con (it was a hot couple of days) but fans were provided. No lift so had to carry buggy/suitcases up/down stairs. I could hear running/jumping from the room or corridor above non-stop for a couple of hours, well into the night (11pm). This is a sound-proofing issue, which I canât imagine would be an easy fix, but always good to note.
We had a wonderful break here and we would...
