I have many hotels on business and Premier Inns have usually been quite acceptable and a brand I liked for budget stays.
I was very put off from the previous hotel, but my client had already pre booked me into this Premier Inn.
The room is generally pretty clean, the bathroom could do with resealing, but is generally acceptable.
This hotel is right next to a busy main road that is noisy all night even when the window is slightly ajar. The noise stops when closed, but then the room gets quite hot by its self during the summer night. Noisy hallways and others walking around are easily heard. I slept with headphones in for relief.
The manager (the tattoo lady) is absolutely brilliant, very helpful and goes out of her way. She's very kind and thoughtful.
Phone signal here is practically non-existent. I rarely get 1 bar on H+. I miss calls, drop calls almost every time. Even the paid internet WiFi calling is terribly unreliable. If you're coming here on business and need to work from the room, providing you don't need to use the internet or have online meetings, you'll be fine. The rooms comes with a small desk and chair. There are no sockets near the bed so you have to charge your phone across the room.
I couldn't get any work done from here because the free and paid internet speed are ridiculously slow and unreliable and you need to keep logging in again multiple times per night.
The pub food is generally decent, the steaks are tough and tasteless though - not recommended. Medium rare came moderaly well done. If you stay here a few days, you may get sick of chips and onion rings which seems a part of almost every meal. (Cheap to make and...
Read moreThe car park was of good size, and I parked easily. You need to register your vehicle at reception. Check-in was smooth, and I was given my room by polite staff. I was advised my whole bed was to be swapped out during my two night stay. I used the stairs to go up to the first floor and felt I had stepped back in time to the 80s at that point. On entering the accommodation corridor I smelt a very musty odour. This was quite powerful and concerned me with regard my room. However no such odour existed in the room. The room was very basic and looked quite tired, but it seemed clean. During my stay I noted several smaller issues including, back missing from the remote for TV. Shower door was very stiff and creaky. The towel hook fell off of the wall.
The air-conditioning worked well and kept the room at a nice temperature during the night.
The hotel sold drinks and snacks at reception, but it appeared that the refrigerator was not working.
On checking out, I wanted to see reception. But after several minutes of waiting and searching for someone, where I walked into the office behind reception and tried the restaurant area. I failed to find anyone, so gave in, as I...
Read moreNearest when visiting family so ideal. The hotel, to be honest, is looking a bit rundown and could do with a upgrade. We booked 4 nights and due to a major knee problem asked for a disability room. Room 209 is in the Annex, not ideal for the hotel breakfast room or the Queen Eleanor pub if you fancy a alcoholic drink. First impression of the room was dissapointing. It looked bare and a bit grubby. Premier Inn have totally lost the plot regarding tea and coffee in the room. The makings are put in a small plastic box. Fine if your there for one night and preferably only have two little milks. However, if your in the room for four nights it means a constant trek to reception to replenish the items. The staff on reception and in the dining area were brilliant. Very helpful and friendly. Would we stay again? Yes because it's local to family. Would we recommend? It is what...
