The Collingtree – Consistently Outstanding
My recent visit to The Collingtree was just as enjoyable as all my previous ones. The welcoming atmosphere and excellent service make this pub a standout every time. The staff are always polite and approachable, but I must give a special mention to Jess, who went out of her way to ensure our evening was enjoyable.
Food: The food was, as always, delicious and great value for money. The menu offers an excellent selection, catering to a wide range of tastes, and every dish we’ve tried has been spot on. Portions are generous, and the quality is consistently high, whether you're after a traditional pub meal or something a bit more adventurous.
Service: The staff here consistently deliver excellent service. From the warm welcome at the door to the attentive table service, they manage to strike the perfect balance of being friendly without being intrusive. Jess, in particular, deserves praise for her thoughtful gesture.
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend paying The Collingtree a visit. The combination of great food, value for money, and friendly service ensures it remains one of my favorite pubs to visit. I’m already looking forward to...
Read moreFirst visit since moving to the area but I left disappointed and hungry. The bar and service was actually pretty friendly and ok and it was pretty clean with nice furnishings. But food was pretty dire.
I ordered a burger and chips and everything came out so incredibly burnt/overcooked, I couldn't eat it. Chips were a very dark colour from being cooked too long and the burger just tasted of burnt, and was quite hard and dry 🥺 I raised with staff after one bite who said she would replace. She came back out with the same plate of overcooked chips for me "to eat while I wait for the burger", because the kitchen is now closed... I ended up asking for a refund because I realised that if burnt chips were being sent back to me, it's unlikely that things will get any better the second time round. I used to work in a wetherspoons kitchen so I understand a cook wanting to close up and head home on a Sunday evening but, personally, I would never have sent a plate like that out to someone. My only expectation of the collingtree as a new person to the area was "edible" and this experience didn't meet that...
Read moreFood wise we were very impressed. We both chose rump steak costing under a tenner with all the trimmings and a free drink (glass of wine or pint). The steak was cooked to medium perfection and was very tender and tasted of beef. I know that sounds ridiculous but often steak in this type of pub tastes of nothing and has the consistency of rubber.
Chips were crisp and golden outside and fluffy on the inside. The mushroom was a bit watery for my tasting but the Stilton sauce was very nice. The rest of the pub was very busy as it was Saturday with the exception of one drunk troublemaker, it was a good natured and mixed crowd. I was especially impressed with their 'gin palace' which has a wide variety of gins; Hendricks, Tanquery, Bombay, Sipsmiths and others as well as the ubiquitous Gordon's.
The decor is great with a mix of low tables, sofas and high tables with stools in the bar area and tables/booths in...
